Ph keeps rising

What would cause ph to keep rising? I have twice now used muriatric acid to reduce from 7.8 to 7.4. But it seems to eventually work itself up to 7.8 every few weeks. Is this normal??

Do you have anything that may be aerating your water? Fountain, waterfall, something like that?

Just the 2 water returns. Should they be pointed more towards the bottom? Right now they both ripple the top of the water when running.

Pointing up will cause some aeration and could be effecting that PH. I would turn them down a bit and see how that works for you.

I would consider pH rising from 7.4 to 7.8 every few weeks to be flatlining.

The natural tendency is for pH to rise through aeration, which includes swimmers. Your pool is behaving normally.

If you post test results for your water, the folks here can give you more accurate guidance. Rising pH is primarily a function of how high your carbonate level is. Aeration sources definitely increase the amount of CO2 out gassing from the pool but CO2 will naturally outgas on its own even without aeration. So knowing your water test results can help.
