PH & Base Demand Question

Hi All:

Somewhat new to pools so please forgive me if this question seems elementary.

Just had water tested at a local Leslie's and I am showing a 7.8 PH but a "Base Demand" of 4. They are recommending I add 3 lb, 12 oz of Soda Ash to the pool - is that right? Soda Ash raises the ph but I am already at 7.8 (top of the recommended range). Please let me know your thoughts.

Also, what does it mean that I am showing a 4 Base Demand reading?

Welcome. Soda ash raises PH----I have no idea why they'd recommend that. You have a full set of test results for us to peek at? What is your TA?

They probably meant acid demand. Get your own test kit and post the results.

Don't add soda ash.

What are all of your results?

What chlorine do you use?
