Updated? in a post.

Why is it that sometimes in a post I'll see:

------Updated------

and then there is added text afterward...

But the only way I have ever seen to add more to a post, is with the "edit post" button which at least for me has never shown an "updated" notation. In addition it wants a reason for the edit which gets notated in the post.

Anyway, I was wondering how I can "update" as opposed "edit" my posts when I have something to add rather than something to fix, like spelling....

If you reply to the thread again very soon after your original reply it makes the addition. I don't recall the time limit.

So reply (to my own post, I assume) instead of edit.... Ok thanks. I've always used edit to avoid multiple posts back to back.
