Soooo confused!!

Our AG pool has been set up for 9 days. We filled it with 6k well water and the other 4k with city water. We were given chlorine granules and muriatic acid to start with. Told to put 24 oz of granules and 64 oz of the acid in to begin. Also put 3 chlorine tabs in a dispenser. After 1 wk, added 16 oz of granules.
Our chlorine still shows 0 on sticks and on a test kit. Ph is 7.8 and alkalinity was 240.

Ive tried reading the Get Started and using Pool Math but I don't think I'm intelligent enough to understand it-lol. The word math scares me to death.

Can someone help? Btw- our water looks clear and clean.

HA! Lucky for you, you don't actually have to DO the math, it does it for you. All you do is put in the current test results in the NOW column and your target levels in the Target column and it will tell you how much to add to reach the target level. It is important to add 40ppm of CYA, aka Stabilizer, to your pool to protect chlorine from the sun. Put it in a sock or two and put it in the skimmer basket or tie to a rope and hang it in front of a pool return. Then it is VERY important to maintain your chlorine level at target at ALL times for your CYA level on the Chlorine CYA Chart. If your chlorine level drops below minimum then your pool is not properly sanitized and is not safe to swim in, can transfer bacteria, virus and disease from person to person and grow algae.

It is also important to maintain PH between 7.2 and 7.8. With TA being high your PH will drift up. When PH reaches 7.8 add muriatic acid to lower it to 7.2. Doing this repeatedly will gradually lower your TA.

Get your chlorine and PH under control and we can work on the rest later.

It's a 21' pool - as much as I like the simplicity of the seasonal pool guide for small pools, someone with a 21' pool probably can't count on drain and refill as a maintenance strategy.

Okay but in the first section it says Add 43 oz of 6 weight % bleach. What is 6 weight bleach?
Also we were given Chlorinating Granules (Sodium Dichloro-s-triazinetrione Dihydrate. Is that chlorine or dichlor or trichlor?

What you have is dichlor. The bleach default is 6%, most stores are selling 8.25%. Or if you are buying liquid chlorine at 10% or 12%. You can change the percentage to whatever you have. Or change the next menu to dichlor.

All of those are different forms of chlorine.
