How to get rid of sand?

Morning all! Been fighting a sand issue the last few weeks. Have a 15' round summer escapes metal frame pool with the standard 1000gph pump/cartridge filter. Have a cheap vacuum that uses a garden hose to create suction. My issue is everything i have used to catch the sand while vacuuming isnt working. I have tried putting panty hose, a sock, pillow stuffing and all 3 together. Im out of ideas. Besides dropping some more cash (wife says no) on a better vac system that uses the pump for suction what else can I do? Thanks everyone

I'm afraid not much. Those hose end vacuums simply won't get sand out.
