They type of pool, size, finish, coping, deck and any features that it has.
The choices are very diverse and you have to start somewhere.
What are the site conditions; slope, septic relocation, tree removal, access?
Down here most do gunite pools.
Do you want part of it deep enough to dive into; 8-9' Or will it be sport depth; 3-1/2 - 5-1/2'
What surface area or volume are you looking for? somwhere to play pool volleyball or more like a spool (bigger than a spa but not quite a pool)
Not many down here do vinyl liners but they are an option. Otherwise is is plaster or one of the pebble or quartz finishes?
Do you want Salt Water?
Will there be rock features; Waterfall, weeping wall?
Will there be any other sorts of water features; laminars, bubblers, deck jets, Swim Jets?
What sort of waterline will it have; tile, glass tile, stone?
What sort of coping; cast concrete, brick bullnose, travertine, flagstone?
What sort of deck and how much area and will it have more than one level; concrete with rock salt finish/patterned finish/cooldeck finish, paver, travertine, flagstore?
What lighting in pool; regular LED?
What cleaner; robot, pressure boosted (polaris style)?
What filter type; sand, cartridge, DE?
Do you want heating?
Do you want cooling?
Any automation?
Other stuff; firepit, outdoor kitchen, gazebo?
Narrowing down just some of these will make any ballpark estimate worth something to you.
