I have a triton 2 sand filter and it started squirting water from the top. My valve is side mounted so the top only has the pressure gauge and air relief valve. The water is coming from the brass fitting right on top of the lid. My question is, can I bypass the filter for now and just recirculate? I have algae in my pool and want it clean asap but no company can come out and fix the pump until Monday. If I run it on circulate and shock it, will it still kill the algae? Thanks

Yes, recirculate will take the filter out of the loop. Circulation is far more important than filtering if you're forced to choose. So go ahead and move the valve to recirculate and do what you need to do chemically.
