I have a sneaking suspicion that my new IC40 (replacing a failed IC20) isn't producing much chlorine. Pool store cannot test it. Is there any kind of way to test and see if it produces the as advertised amount of chlorine??
Usually when people think their SWG isn't producing chlorine it is algae consuming the chlorine as fast as it is being produced. Get some plain bleach to raise your FC to 10, turn off the SWG and Pool School - Perform the Overnight FC Loss Test (OCLT) to see if there is algae in the pool consuming chlorine.
One thing you can do is capture water right out of a return eyeball. If your SWG is working, you should see a noticeable difference in FC between it and water taken elsewhere in the pool. Just make sure the lights on the IC40 indicate it is on or crank it up to 100% before taking a sample. That said, I'd also follow Pooldv advise just to make sure.
