I have a 12 year old Hayward H150 Millivolt system. When I want to turn it on, many times I must drop the top tilt out access, and give a strong love tap to the back of white thermostat cube. All of the wires seem intact and contacts are sprayed with WD40 each Fall and Spring.
Any ideas???

Only way to determine what's wrong is to get out the volt meter and start measuring voltage thru the system. Or, pony up some $$ and get an updated system.

Paul,
I'm an old retiree with little mechanical aptitude. If a tap on the back of the thermostat turns it on, should I spend the $40 and just replace the thermostat. It looks easier than mastering a volt meter. I have the heater on wheels and clean and store it in a heated garage every Pittsburgh winter.
