What is the purpose of the Basic OTO kit?

I get the pH test but I tend to use the FAS / DPD test for chlorine. My CYA is 50 so I am keeping the chlorine at ~6 which is beyond the OTO chlorine test.

Is there even a reason to use the OTO test for chlorine?

i use it for quick testing, as long as its slightly darker than the 5ppm yellow. For exact results, i use the FAS/DPD.

It's useful as a sanity check if the FAS-DPD test shows nothing when there should be something. Or more than there should be, and you question your counting ability.

Minimum for 50 CYA is 4, so you could use it on a daily basis. As long as you're darker than 4, you can just dump in the usual amount of bleach and feel safe. Once or twice a week break out the powder and drops and check yourself.
