    CYA level with SWG

PoolSchool says CYA should be at 70-80 ppm with a SWG system, but the Zodiac manual recommends <50 and the Intex manual states 30 ppm. What is the rationale for keeping the CYA so much above recommended levels?

    Re: CYA level with SWG

Because it better protects the FC from the sun and thus the SWG does not have to run as much to maintain adequate FC levels. As such, the SWG should last longer before needing to be replaced.

Just make sure you maintain the FC level that is needed for your CYA level. See the FC/CYA Chart and Water Balance for SWGs
