Pool protecter under wedding steps for an above ground pool

I have the pool protecter it can with the wedding steps but I don't know if the bumpy side goes up or down!?!

Hello Sheraggy! I could not find the instructions that specifically addressed the installation of the pad itself, only the steps. But from all the pictures I saw on-line, they appear to show any bumps or treads facing "UP". I'm assuming it's to ensure adequate traction as everyone enters/exits the pool so they don't slip on the steps. But that's just my guess.
