We had a lot of rain recently and now it's not working. Won't even power on, wondering if this may have something to do with it. When I plug it in it trips the breaker to the outlet. I can't get the pic to load, but the small box beside the control box is cracked and has rust color in the cracks. Intex brand

Water and electricity can be a problem, especially with conductive stuff in the water. Rust is iron or steel, both are conductive.
You need to fix that first.

Yes, sounds like it is time for a new SWG. In the meantime add plain bleach to chlorinate your pool so it doesn't turn in to a swamp.

While Griswalds' statement is correct, your pool water, no matter how clean and pure you think it may be, should never be mistaken for distilled water, or considered non conductive.
Lets be perfectly clear here. Tap water, your pool water, lets say for arguments sake all water is or should be considered conductive, unless....
