painted pvc pipe

Hey Folks -
I'm wanting to do a little work on the waste line from my multi port valve, but the pipe is painted. How do I best prep the cut end to apply the pvc cement? Do I sand the paint off, or is there some solvent I should use instead?

Sand it down. As long as the PVC cement can contact bare, raw PVC you will be ok. Use the purple primer it you have it.

Yeah, I ALWAYS use primer.
