    Algae Sludge

I have an Intex 24'x52" above ground pool with a sand filter and pump. This is really bad in the bottom of the pool, can I use the backwash to vaccum most of this out or will it hurt my pump?

If you're going to backwash sludge, use the Waste setting on your valve. All water and sludge vacuumed will go straight out of your waste/backwash line and not clog your filter.
