Cannot get good color match on the pH tester that comes in TFtest kit

I can never get a good color tone match on the plastic kit. I do get good matches on our 25year old Guardex test kit using porpoise test bottles from pinchapenny. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it just me? Also, is there a recommended best tool to measure pH?

Better storage case for Apera PH60?

Hi, for those of you using the Apera PH60 pH tester, how do you store the pen and all the associated solutions once you've opened them all and are storing the pen with the KCL storage solution in the cap? The supplied case (photo) is fine for shipping, but pretty much useless once you open all...

Mobile app for pH color comparison

Hi all. People seem to post regularly saying they have trouble comparing colors for the standard pH test. Certainly color blind people must? For me 7.8 and 8.0 look almost the same. Of interest because 8.0 is my trigger to add acid. It would not be super hard to build an app that uses a phone's...

Acid Demand Higher After Adding Borates - Normal?

Hi All, Prior to adding 50ppm of borates to my pool (I used boric acid from Duda Diesel), I had very high pH. This was probably due to my SWG and spillover spa. However, the acid demand was always quite low. Sometimes a single drop would take that sample (K-2006) from a fairly dark red back...

Hack for water chemistry probes while waiting for backordered JellyJar

Like many, I was hit with some freeze damage during the winter deep freeze in Texas. I was fortunate to have a whole home generator which saved me from more severe damage. I did not however escape unscathed. My Intellichem JellyJar cracked as did the housing and intake filter. Anyone who has...

    Ph testing with Taylor SpeedStir

I just received a SpeedStir and noticed that there is no 44ml level on the enclosed vial, but in order to test with Taylor K-2006C a 44ml sample is required. There is no alternative testing method for smaller samples as there is for CH and TA. Do I need to use the manual Ph test included with...
