When hooking up your outdoor speakers, what size wire did you run and what was the total length. My longest run will be about 50 feet and was wondering if 16 gauge would be sufficient or is a 12 or 14 gauge more appropriate?

If your using large size or top end speakers then run 12 gauge to get the clarity and base response they are capable of. If you are using 'average' speakers then 16 gauge should be fine.

I am leaning toward 4 of the TIC GS5 Omni speakers. Maybe a couple of the Yamaha wall mounted on the cabana. I don't intend to go real hi-fi, just want some music around the pool. Maybe I just split the difference and use the 14G; that should handle the 50' runs without a problem.

I went 12AWG for all runs from 50 to 140 feet. Overkill, yes, but the cost difference was manageable and I only wanted to run them once,
