Would have done it today before the storm picked up if the kids weren't home!

What do ya'll think about skinny dipping with kids? My parents never would have had me around for that. I don't plan to for my kids either but I know a lot of people are more open about that kind of thing than I am.

Last year at camp my son & 2 other campers took 45 minutes in the changing room only to come out with their 'dry' clothes on over their wet suits. Early on this year I took him to the beach one day. It was deserted & well off the beaten path, so I skinny dipped for a few minutes & let him try it when he asked if he could. This got him to be more comfortable being naked outside of the bathroom or his bedroom. We've skinny dipped in the pool at home a few times since then. This year at camp he still wasn't the first one out of the changing room, but he wasn't the last either. He was carrying his wet suit, not wearing it under his clothes this time.

I think my daughters take after my wife, and want no part of it. I've not asked them, nor do I plan to. If they ever do, I doubt they'd do it while I was home.

I don't see the big deal if it's same sex, they've all got the same parts. Co-ed, ehhh... that's going to have a lot of variables to it. Toddlers are different than 17 year olds.

My parents wouldn't have done it (I don't think) nor do I think they would have condoned it, I'm not sure they would have condemned it though. I see no harm in it of itself, it's not a sexual thing.

We're a big ole nakie kind of family. Probably wouldn't swim nakie in this pool cuz the creepy neighbors would see, but otherwise no one cares much except H who thinks the boys are getting a little old to see some things... He's probably right but then again neither of them seem to care or notice, it's just same old as always to them. All three of my kids run nakie as needed, no one bats an eye. I'm actually needing THEM to put some freakin clothes on with all their puberty coming out now... ewww! lol

I came from a nakie family, H did not but he's adapted well enough.

I think my kids might have a leg up on many their age... they know what adult bodies look like whereas their friends likely rely on porn or unknowns. I'm not sure that's healthy. I do hope it helps them all remain comfortable in their skin and accepting of others, whatever they may look like. Also, a little prepared for that first shocking encounter...

I was raised with an "everyone's got em, why hide it?" attitude. Hot tubbing hippie style started early with a clothing optional community center that has hot tubs/sauna/float tanks two houses from my parent's house. I have never worn a suit in a hot tub (except the occasional hotel spa dip), even with strangers although I admit, it's been a loooooong time since I tubbed with strangers. We became friends with a Catholic Priest through this facility, oh yeah and dad is also a preacher dude. A lot more kinds of people are ok with nakie than one would think.

I'm with you on that. Similar upbringing for some reason.

We were in Europe this summer where nudity is about as provocative as grass. Not like in the Puritans country.

Say .... think I'll take a dip right now!

I've been to Orient Beach in St Martin several times and while the beach is topless, beyond the rock jetty is the more exclusive "all natural" beach. So sister and I ventured over there and what do we see??? An 80 yr old man.....bent over putting on his shoes!!!  Lord have mercy! We turned around and were perfectly happy to stay topless.

Having grown-up in Europe I probably look at things much more open.
My parents took us to textile free beaches and I loved returned back to school without any tan lines.
I still enjoy trips to the sauna with them on my visits back home.
It certainly is a different story here. Our yard & pool are very private - so no issues here, but I remember when I took my 11 year old son to Croatia with my sister and her family to a clothing optional campground. On the third day he got tired of changing in and out of his swim trunks and started floating around in his birthday suit only to get a huge sunburn on his rearend
My daughter (almost 10) doesn't seem to care either way, but she usually prefers to wear a suit herself.

I carefully sited my pool on my 3 acre hillside lot so that it can't seen from off the property, or even from the driveway. I never wear a suit if there is not anyone around who would take offense. I hate tan lines. My GF has been known to join me. When I was a kid, my father, brother and I would not use suits if Mom and Sis were not around. (Our old pool was even more isolated, you couldn't see it from the house.)

I don't worry about anyone surprising me. They are the ones who should be embarrassed in that situation. The local fire official (female) certainly was when she made that mistake. I got my approval with no hassle, too. (She came early.)

Never again!! Late, dark, friends - it all SEEMED like such a good idea until my 15 year son and his friend came home and walked out of the house onto the second floor deck that had a prime view of the pool. My poor son is scarred forever. And he told my older sisters.
