but, I'm basing my adding chlorine on your calculator and I'm using 6280 as my gallons...when I used your calculator to figure how much CYA to add, from 0, and I wanted to go to 30, it told me 1.75 pounds and it was dead on, using 6280... so, that's why I'm confused.

using your calculator, using the round which ignores length, I have an 18ft Intex pool round and I have it filled to almost 48in, and it tells me it's 7600 gallons, but on the box it says it's 6280.

with a CYA of 50 you need to maintain a FC of 15 until it holds over night... why aren't you using bleach?

I guess that's why I always use 2 scoops cause I'm always running at around 8ppm with a CYA of 35

I use the Taylor FAS/DPD kit, and I always use 2 level scoops of the power.

it could take up to a week at shocking levels (but most times sooner) to get rid of it.... I assume the pump is the problem why it's not cleaning up faster. But your doing everything you should be doing.

yea, mine isn't a 2 speed.... :cry: back then a year ago, I was a new pool owner, and didn't know much about pumps back then, and most were saying that filter and pump I was getting would collapse my pool, and not knowing enough back then, after I hooked it up, I said a prayer before turning...

pay the sitter extra $'s to clean the pool....maybe just getting the stuff off the top.... or, tell them if you use the pool, you must clean it.

well, something like I got, could range from $375.00 to $430.00, but you can shop around and find cheaper.....I think I paid last year about $325.00 for the 18" Sand filter and 1 HP pump. like I mentioned before, about as much for as I paid for the pool, ladder, the pump that came with the pool...

mine was only about 84 degrees, and from what I was told by my wife and children, it was wonderful.

you should brush the sides as often as possible and vacuum it right up...daily would be great, but when I had algae last year, I brushed/vacuumed morning and late afternoon until it cleared.

I didn't have an issue upgrading to a Hayward Sand Filter 18 and a Hayward 1/2 HP Flow Pump...some said it would collapse my Intex 18x48 Metal Frame pool, but that was BS....I've been using it for 2 years now. I'll admit, I paid almost as much for the Sand filter and pump as I did for the pool...

I have that, but mine doesn't discolor anything...I'm not using a sock, just the skimmer basket, but it's not discolored in anyway.
