    FC woes

I'm not sure why my cya test is so fluctuated. I tested it again yesterday and it was 90. The only thing I've done was add water to the pool. Shouldn't that reduce cya? It did make the water very cloudy. When I did the ON FC test there was no chlorine. Not in the skimmer or in the floater.

    Never ending dirt battle.

Turned out I wasn't priming the hose well enough. I fill it with the garden hose now. I also figured out that if I leave the main drain cracked a lil it vets better results for some reason. Got all the algae out and have a crystal pool again. Thanks!

    FC woes

I'm having problems keeping FC levels. I use a puck floater with 4 pucks in it and have another puck in the strainer basket. I add liquid bleach and then the FC drops from 5 to 0 in about 3 days. An overnight FC test shows no algae growth. CYA is 45. The only thing I can think of is the wicked...

I left my pump on for the whole week, adding 5lbs of shock, some muratic acid, and some Algatec. It cleaned...

    Never ending dirt battle.

We live in the desert, and I live near farms. My pool seems to alwasy have dirt in it. I turn the pump on, brush all the dirt to the main drain, and the dirt stirs up in the pool. After I let it sit a minute it seems that the dirt goes back to right where it started. Spread out all over the...

    Apprehensive new Pool Owner.

I had the local pool place test the water. It has the same salt it did when it came out of the tap. I bought 200lbs of salt. Should I chuck it in? Is there any fashion in which I should do this? I also dumped the jug of bleach in and 28oz of the muratic. The levels then came back: FC:4 CC:0...

OK i'll get the salt tested, then do as advised. The pump is a 2 speed, although I have no idea how to tell what speed it is on or how to change that. All the equipment is pretty confusing. :) The water looks great and we probably have another good 2-2.5 months of swim season left, but we...

    Apprehensive new Pool Owner.

I'm another foreclosed house purchaser. I just closed and am looking at the pool with its equipment like an alien mother-ship has landed in my backyard and demanded I maintain it... I came here, read everything I could find, ordered the TFP Test kit, played JR. chemist and got my results. I...
