what size air pillow to use

This may be a stupid question, but my pool was a mess at opening this year and I want to be sure. My foot is 15 foot round above ground, so would I use an air pillow that is extra large (4 1/2 x 15) or several small ones? What is the best technique? Thanks!! :-D

SWG pad won't unlock after bad storm

Not yet, I tried the trouble shooting guide first, and then figured maybe someone at this site might have had a similar experience. I guess calling them is the next step. Meanwhile, I'm breaking out the bleach!

SWG pad won't unlock after bad storm

We had a baaaad storm here the other night and our power went off and on three times. Ever since, our SWG (intex) has been stuck in stand by mode (code 88)/the keypad is locked and will not let me reset it. I tried unplugging it for a couple of hours and also turning off the unit, but to no...

SWG stuck in stand by mode

Yes, that is the usual way I do it, but now when I push the arrow it just does this really fast repetitive beep and will not let me progress to the next stop. Same thing happens with the other arrow too. It just stays stuck on code 88..Any other thoughts/suggestions?

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Well after an entire week of shocking and adding various chemicals (BBB) I can now see the bottom of my pool!! It's still a faint bit cloudy but way better than it was (I've also been scrubbing and vacuuming several times a day). Wanted to post my numbers and see where to head next: FC 11...

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Ok, so just use the lowest cya level on the cya/chlorine chart for shocking correct (20)?

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Sorry for the delay, I had to work today and just got time to test the water. So here are today's numbers ( I am still in the process of shocking the pool): FC 6.5 CC 2 TA 50 Ph7.8 CYA 0 (dissolved it in the sock yesterday in the return jet) How do I account for the zero CYA when using the...

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Thanks, I added half that amount, as you recommended. I had just been putting in the dimensions of my pool in the pool calculator, didn't even think about actual depth. I actually haven't hooked up my SWG to the mix yet, waiting to get the water fixed. Appreciate your help!

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Ok my ph is 8.2 again and my TA is 60 ( I added baking soda earlier), so what do you recommend next? Water depth is actually 39" (keep it lower for my younger children). Thanks so much for your help

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Yikes, I had the borax on hand so I added it. Oh well, I'm sure we can fix it. What next?

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Well I'm about to pull my hair out. My TA is now 20 and my ph dropped to less than 6.8 after I added the ph down. Where to begin? Help!

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Great. Also, my TA was low (30) but I figured I should fix the ph first, is that correct?

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

So I drained it most of way, got out what I could and refilled. I am now working on balancing things. I'm shocking with bleach and have hung the sock with cya in it (initial level zero of course). I have my TF 100 test kit that I am using to test so I think I'm heading in the right direction...

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Thanks for the advice! So just to clarify, my SWG won't initially produce enough chlorine to support swimming so I initially need to treat with bleach, borax, baking soda and cya (not dichlor) to make it "swimmable". Is that correct? I feel like I have so much to learn! This site is a...

residual pool water a mess after hard winter

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a good off season! We had a lot of snow and ice here in NC and despite multiple adjustments of our pool cover we had thick layers of ice that pulled our pool cover down to the bottom of the pool and made it generally a mess. Next year I am going to look for that...

Ok, I won't worry about the TA. Is the CYA level accurate, or does it take a few days after dissolving to reach it's true measure? I'm just wondering if I need to add anymore CYA, or if it will naturally rise over the next few days? Thanks

    First Time Pool Family

Well we finally have cya!! The level is 30, which is low, but since it just finally dissolved yesterday, should I wait before I add more to bring it up? Also, my T/A went up to 110. Should I be addressing that? Thanks so much!

    First Time Pool Family

Thanks, I won't worry about the pH for now. I am only using my swg, and bleach as needed. Hopefully my cya will be up now that I repositioned the sock and it is dissolving so quickly

Moved the sock and mushed it a bit, and it is now disappearing rapidly, as it is directly in front of the return jet. Here are my numbers: FC 4.5 (it was .5 about 2.5 hours ago so I added half a jug of bleach so the kids could swim) CC 0 TC 4.5 pH 7.1 T/A 100 Should I add borax to bring...

Thanks for the ideas on the sock placement,I will go implement some and see if it speeds up the process. The sock doesn't look any less full to me, so that could be the problem. Just to be sure, I use just a regular sock and not a stocking type sock correct?

The sock is near a return jet as recommended. I guess I'll wait till Sunday to test the cya again, as recommended. I've been adding bleach twice daily to keep the level swimmable for the kids. I don't let them in unless it is at least an fc of two. That last fc measurement was taken after...

I've been checking the cya daily since Sunday, with the levels remaining at zero. I have not done a cc check, but I will tomorrow; my FC was .5 Did you mean I should add extra bleach until the cya comes up? Thanks again

    First Time Pool Family

My pool is the clearest I've seen it in two weeks! Of course my chlorine still keeps dropping very low, but that is because the cya is still dissolving I guess. I followed your recommendations last night, and here are my numbers as of today: FC .5 ph 7.3 t/a 100 cya 0 I'm going to add some...

Hi again! My TF-100 test kit came today, and here are the results I was able to get before it got dark: FC .5 ph 7.1 TA 40 CYA 0 ( the sock has been hanging since Sunday) I did the overnight FC test and it was negative. I've been adding bleach daily to keep the chlorine up so the kids can...

Thanks for helping me start a thread, I never could figure it out. My kit should be here tomorrow. I'm going to do the overnight FC test tonight, and I'll check my levels as soon as the kit comes. I'll let you know what they are as soon as possible. This may be a silly question, but is it ok...
