    Chlorine Testing Wrong?

I recently purchased one of the TFT kits. Today my FC was 0 and I added 181 oz. of 5.25% bleach to a 15,000 gallon pool. I read where after 30-60 minutes I should be fine to test again. According to the pool math calculator that should've raised my FC by 5 but when I tested (FAS/DDP test) it was...

    Little "Pimples" Behind Liner

I guess it's possible that sand got up on the wall when we installed the new liner. Glad to see someone with a newer pool has the same thing going on.

    Little "Pimples" Behind Liner

Yep all around the pool. They are about halfway up the wall and go all the way around.

    Little "Pimples" Behind Liner

I was in my above ground pool the other day and I notices little bumps almost like pimples all around the pool wall behind the liner. The pool is an Esther Williams pool and is 12-13 years old. I know it could be a sign of wall corrosion, but this liner is less than a year old, so I was able to...

For Sale: Doheny 1.5 HP Pump

I have a Doheny 1.5 HP pump that is just a little over a year old that quit working and was outside of the warranty period. I went ahead and bought a Hayward replacement, but really I probably should've just fixed the Doheny pump. When you turn it on it just hums, so I'm thinking its something...

New Wrinkles in Year Old Liner

I had a new liner put in my above ground pool at the end of the last pool season. There wasn't a wrinkle to be found when it was installed, now all of a sudden I have noticed a few wrinkles on the bottom. Is it normal for a liner to do that, is it something to do with settling? I've heard that...

    Air Bubble or Sand?

I think I just answered my own question. I put the multiport valve on recirculate and it was doing the same thing, I don't know why I didn't think of trying that before.

    Air Bubble or Sand?

This may be stupid but my return is blowing something into the pool and I can't tell if its just air bubbles or sand. The level in the pool is a little low so I'm hoping that air is just getting sucked into the skimmer and that it's just bubbles. I put a cup in front of the cup and then looked...

    Time For A New Liner?

I got a friend of my uncle that used to do above ground pool installation to come by and look at it. We pulled the liner off and the wall looks great. There's not a bit of rust anywhere, praise God. It is in fact a beaded liner. I've order a new 25 gauge liner and we're going to shoot for...

    Time For A New Liner?

I'm more than likely going to wait until spring to get the liner replaced. I'm not sure how high up on the wall the holes are but if by chance they are near the bottom and all the water drains out should I refill during the winter to keep the walls from collapsing?

    Time For A New Liner?

I have a 24' round 15,000 gallon above ground pool that is 12 years old and has the original liner in it. Earlier this year I patched a hole in it and the patch is holding up well, but now I have at least two more new holes in it. I'm getting ready to cover the pool for the winter, but next...

    Hayward Chlorinator Check Valves

Do pool stores usually carry these or does it just depend on each store? One of mine broke and I'm leaving for the beach Saturday, so I can't really wait for one to come by mail if I want to keep my pump running while I'm gone.

Algae Cleared Up Now Another Problem

Should I vacuum to waste or filter?

Algae Cleared Up Now Another Problem

Should I leave the pump on or will I need to keep it off so that the sediment will settle?

Algae Cleared Up Now Another Problem

I used the SLAM method to shock my pool and kill algae and it was crystal clear yesterday when I got home. I checked it again this morning before I left and it was still clear. Well the water level in the pool was low so I plugged up a sump pump that I use to pump water from a nearby creek into...

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

I used the SLAM process. I shocked it with bleach and then continued to keep chlorine at shock levels until water was clear. It's actually still at shock level but I think I'm going to let it come back down now because the water looks very good. I'll probably do the OCLT tonight.

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

I just backwashed it until the water coming out of the waste was clear. Probably around 3 minutes and then rinsed for 1 minute.

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

Water is crystal clear now but it wasn't a week ago. We had an algae bloom that I'm just now getting under control. - - - Updated - - - Pressure is higher but flow out of the return is lower. I wasn't thinking when I said the pressure dropped off, I just meant the flow did.

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

I think it is definitely something to do with the sand because I backwashed it again today. The return line had very good pressure after backwashing, but after a few hours the pressure has dropped off again. Looks like its going to need a deep cleaning.

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

The sand is actually only a year old, it was just replaced last year and no chemicals except for chlorine have been used in it. Would it have had time to harden in a year?

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

    Yes that's what I mean.

Low Pressure in Return when set to Filter

I've read some previous threads concerning this topic but still can't get my problem fixed. I have a Doheny's 1.5 hp pump hooked up to a hayward sand filter. When the multiport valve is set to filter the return pressure is very low, but if it is switched over to recirculate then the pressure is...
