    Losing water

Hello! We have a 15k gallon in ground pool with a Hayward sand filter. For the past couple of years it has been losing about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch of water a day. We are going to have someone come out and look at it but is there any troubleshooting we can do ourselves first? There are a couple of...

    Automatic chlorine feeder

Hello! Haven’t posted in a long time, have been having great luck with our inground pool. I was wondering if anyone uses an automatic Liquid chlorine (we would use bleach in it) feeder like this: Hasa Pool The Liquidator, 8 Gallon, Standard I am intrigued but not sure how it works. Has anyone...

Sand Filter not reading any pressure

thanks for your reply. The multiport valve is on "filter". I have backwashed successfully and put it back on filter. I don't have a recirculate option on my filter. Is rinse the same as recirculate? I only have filter, backwash, rinse and waste.

Sand Filter not reading any pressure

Hello! I opened my pool today and my pool filter is reading 0 psi pressure. It is a Hayward sand filter on a 20,000 gallon in ground vinyl pool. All jets are working at full pressure, it seems. skimmer has good suction, nothing else seems out of whack. Emptying skimmer and pump basket regularly...

    Low PH eating ALL chlorine?

Thanks! I do wonder if my husband was reading the results of the test correctly and testing as often as he said, to be honest, lol. I was on a work trip and he was in charge of the pool. Maybe it was user error!

    Low PH eating ALL chlorine?

Sorry for delay in update here but I did a SLAM which worked great. However once we started letting the chlorine drift back down it got to around 10 for 3 days and then all of a sudden went from 10 to 0 in 24 hours and we got an algae bloom almost immediately. So I did another SLAM which worked...

Highest chlorine level safe for swimming with CYA 50

I am finishing up a SLAM after doIng citric acid treatment for staining and it’s going very well, seems like it will be done in the next day or so. My question is what chlorine level is safe to swim in? Due to my 50 CYA I had to shock at 20 ppm so it is going to take some time for chlorine level...

Jason - thank you!!!! I didn't realize that (although I probably should have) and was about to spend $70! $30 is much better :)

    Low PH eating ALL chlorine?

Yes, that is why I think it may be the problem. What will help get the pool to hold chlorine again after citric acid? Is it just a waiting game?

    Low PH eating ALL chlorine?

Just tested CYA yesterday and it is at 50. Not using anything on the non-recommended chemicals list. Just store bought chlorine bleach, chlorine pucks and I used citric acid the other day for staining. I will post all numbers when I get home. My feeling is it is the citric acid that is eating...

    Low PH eating ALL chlorine?

I joined 3 years ago but haven't been active until this year because I didn't have a pool for that period in between. Still learning, sorry. I checked CYA yesterday and I am using a Taylor K-2005 kit. I know I need a better kit but I bought this one by accident and haven't been able to replace...

    Low PH eating ALL chlorine?

I have a 30,000 gallon in ground chlorine pool with a Hayward sand filter. Water has been clear and no problem holding chlorine with pucks in feeder until this week (even after we had our hottest week ever in the Boston area last week). Last week was in the 90's, this week the 80's, but all of a...

    Bluetooth on Dolphin Nautilus CC?

First of all, to any and all who recommended the dolphin nautilus cc as an affordable robot vacuum - thank you!!!!! I absolutely love it and I can’t believe how easy it is and how well it works. My question is - on the power pack it has the symbols for Bluetooth and smartphone connection but...

    SLAM Day 7 Still cloudy

I am on Day 7 or SLAM process, been vacuuming every day and brushing sides. Water is still cloudy. You can see bottom clearly in shallow end and blue but not sparkling, can almost see bottom in deep end but cloudy and a little teal colored. Here are chemistry results (I ordered the wrong kit so...

    Vacuuming to waste

We have been SLAM-ing since Saturday! Water is blue and almost clear but not sparkling. Lots of debris on floor. Great idea with only vacuuming to waste for worst parts! Good to know we should deep clean the filter. Will do that this weekend! Anyone have some good instructions? Thank you!

    Vacuuming to waste

Yes, I have tried to get most of the leaves out but there are some. It's mostly dirt. This is only our second year of owning the house with this pool, we were told when we bought it the pump was brand new, so I guess it has never been deep cleaned in, say 3 years? How often should you do it and...

    Vacuuming to waste

I have a Hayward 2-hp sand filter/pump with a 30,000 gallon vinyl chlorine pool. We have a main drain I think, that's the drain at the deep end right? It is currently open, how do I use that to help? The PSI definitely gets very high when I vacuum. I can post chemistry results later when I am...

    Vacuuming to waste

I am trying to get my pool nice and clean and needing to vacuum to waste due to the amount of leaves and sediment, if I dont the water comes right back into the pool filthy. 1. Is There potentially something wrong with my filter that it is not filtering the water when I vacuum or pretty normal...

    Automatic vacuum with floc?

That’s right, I forgot about the vacuuming to waste part. Sorry for the silly question. We have a sand filter and last year we just could not get rid of the cloudiness over a 4 week period even though levels were all coming back normal and filter seemed to be working fine. I added DE and used...

    Automatic vacuum with floc?

Wasn’t sure which board to post this on... last year we ended up having to flocc our pool to get it to clear. My question is - can you use an automatic pool vacuum when vacuuming up the flocc or will it move too fast and not be precise enough? I am hoping to buy one soon and wondering if it can...

Something to clean stone edges of pool?

I am looking for something to clean the white stone edges of my pool. Last year we tried power washing and for a lot of effort it didn't do much. Is there a safe cleaner I can spray on and rinse off with minimal scrubbing/brushing? Of course also need to make sure if some gets in the pool it...
