    green pool

Hi. It's looking better. The pool is now back to blue. I can see the bottom of the pool but the water is still cloudy-ish. Should I keep adding the liquid chlorine? Anything else I should test for to clear up the cloudiness?

Was reading 14 this evening, put more bleach in and checked it about 4 hours later and it's holding steady right around 16. hoping I don't lose ground overnight. Normally every night it would drop to 12, so this hopefully is a good sign that it's stabilizing. Still green but stable.

Just tested it. Back down to 12 so added a little under 200 oz of bleach, as per calc.

Once it hits level 16, what happens? because I got it to 16, then it dropped back down again.

    green pool

FC read 13 this morning but I had to work and just got home. Tested it and it was down to 4.5. So I added another 4 bottles of the liquid chlorine but the pool is still green. Can I backwash the pool during this process. It's so discouraging because the readings keep going up and down but...

Ok finally got it close. 15.5. Pool calc recommended 20 more oz so we'll see in the morning how it's doing

Also, scrubbed the bottom and sides of the pool so it kicked up some more green. The pool was still green today but definitely clearer. I tried getting a pic but my phone was taking fuzzy pics. WIll try to get one tomorrow.

FC dropped to 8.5 so it's calling for another 3 or so bottles of liquid chlorine, which I will put in now.

Yeah, pretty close! I haven't swam in it all year and last year had a week where it looked cloudy but blue-ish. this year I'm hoping to get 3-4 weeks. it's such a waste by the time it gets clear up here in the northeast!

haha very true. I edited my signature but I don't seem to see it saving with the info. Does it take time to show up? - - - Updated - - - nevermind, there it is

    green pool

Yes, I started doing the 10ml now. Makes more sense. I will update the signature and take a pic in the morning since it's too dark right now for a pic. Yeah, the pool is huge...about 31,000 gallons of water. Seemed like a good idea 15 years ago. now, it's pretty big for one person to use...

ok the pool calc is working for me again. It told me to add 2 more gallons of liquid chlorine, so I did. I will test the water in an hour and see what the new results are.

    green pool

So I put in 3 bottles of the liquid chlorine. The pool calculator said 3, not 6 like I originally thought. I tested the free chlorine this afternoon and it read 14.4 but the pool calculator is telling me I don't have to add any more bottles in but the pool is still the same color as it has...

    green pool

Also, when I went into the pool calculator, it says to add only 6 bottles to get the levels from 3.2 to 16. Is that all I would need? My pool looks like it could use about 60 bottles at this point! lol

So should I just do the liquid chlorine? I purchased the muriatic acid at Lowe's tonight so if I need to, I can add that, as well. Just to be clear if I don't have to add the muriatic acid, the only product I put in the pool during the SLAMming is the proper amount of liquid chlorine? - - -...

    green pool

Thanks. I already bought 12 gallons of liquid chlorine -would that be ok instead of the regular bleach? Also, just walk it around the pool correct? The muriatic acid-how does that go into the pool? Skimmer or directly into the pool?

Sorry to have disappeared. I had to buy a new pump as mine just stopped working. Pool is still green but I purchased the k-2006 test kit. I know I have to slam the pool but how exactly do I go about doing this? My parents normally fix the pool but they're unable to do it anymore so I'm stuck...

Yeah I will have to get one of those kits. here's what they came up with this afternoon. First off, it's an above ground sand filter with 30,479 gallons. Looks like they are using something called Waterlink datamate 10 to test the water. Anyway, here is what it came up with: Free...

Hi everyone, New to the forums and have been having an issue this year with my pool, consistently being greenish/brown. Been to the pool store 5 times and I keep getting different answers. The pool went from seafoam green to brown, back to seafoam green and then they had me put 5 lbs of shock...
