    Finished with Construction - Finally

Under the turf there is between 3 and 8 inches of Decomposed Granite and the turf itself drains rather well down thru the mat. This is the turf that we went with - SGW Dallas | Diamond Pro Spring its treated to not collect heat and we tried it up against a bunch of other options it was by far...

    Finished with Construction - Finally

Well we were "Complete" Sept 1 but there were other items to attend to - Platers, Concrete Curb, and artificial grass. Today we finished the artificial grass and I wanted to show it off. Dropbox - Ian shared 16 photos with you. Thanks for all the help and support - This would have been a very...

Thanks for all the Splashout kids! CYA is between 30-40

So we have an auto cover and we have some shade too - Mature trees in the yard and we like em so we went with a cover to keep the pool maint down. The pool is opened when we swim and when I test in the AM else it's covered. Coverpools cover 18 gauge vinyl Laminated vs Coated - Cover-Pools®...

Needed something to be a little more accurate in my additions of chemicals

After using our kitchen wares for MA and Chlorine I decided to get something a little more suited to purpose - Amazon.com: Update International MEA-200PC Polycarbonate PC Dry Measuring Cup, 2-Quart: Kitchen Dining Lately my pool has been taking between 30-40 oz of Chlorine per day so I bought...

Thanks for all the Splashout kids! CYA is between 30-40

Had a bad Pool Guy experience that shot CYA to 50-60 range a month back and was worried if I would ever get it back where I had originally targeted. Well I encouraged my boys to splash and cannon ball and have the best time they could and they did not disappoint! Tested CYA this AM and the dot...

Pool Builders assigned Pool Guy showed up - Almost rang his neck!

Yep I have the standard solution - CYA tests are not really a solved problem in my POV, would like something much more exact even though the Taylor site makes it seem cut and dry it really is not and since the FC goal is based on a widely divergent subjective measurement it kinda bums me out.

No combined chlorine? Anything else I should be testing for?

For me the pool is new so I test more than required (wife says the novelty will wear off in a few months and then I will never test...) I test the full TF-100 kit card maybe every other day and log it in the Pool Pal app for Android. I think the Pool School recommends testing FC and PH daily...

Pool Builders assigned Pool Guy showed up - Almost rang his neck!

Pool guy was a no show this week - I guess even when their voicemail box is full they somehow get the message thru the Pool builder grapevine that they are not welcome to return. Pool cover was installed the same day as the Pool Guy event and I think that slowed the removal of chlorine from the...

Pool Builders assigned Pool Guy showed up - Almost rang his neck!

Levels are a little better this AM after the MA dump yesterday afternoon. FC is still high at 20 (Remember he said the shock wears off after an hour or so...) PH 7.2 TA 90 CH 275 (hoping what precipitated out ended up in the filter) CYA of 60 (I get readings of 60-70 most days but as I am new I...

Is there a calculator for reducing CYA via draining? I want to convert over to a chlorine pump over the winter and do the drain off in the spring. Anyone looking for a 2 week old Nature 2 Fusion? I have one for CHEAP!

I have some distilled water around for my Humidor - did the 1:1 ratio to dilute the sample 20ML Pool Water and 20 ML Distilled poured into a 40 ML measure - PH is at least 8.2. I will be adding some MA before tomorrow as the kids really wanted to swim tonight. I have a huge overpowered VS pump...

Pool Builders assigned Pool Guy showed up - Almost rang his neck!

We have an auto cover and the lip for the cover entry is angled at about a 45 degree so we get a good amount of splash out - I will be encouraging our boys to have fun and have a cannon ball contest. Not upset about the FC levels but the others just seem like they had a desire to dump things in...

Ok so I am new to all this - Never had a pool before. I have a TF-100 Kit and test daily, same time in the AM and I test it all typically just so I gain a better understanding of whats up with the water chem and temps etc etc. I am trying to learn. Well the guys were installing the cover so...

DFW Area new pool - Rectangular with Auto Cover - No Spa

Funny thing is two people at PB advise opposite things - One says "Swim in it, don't worry about the chems your weekly guy will sort that out - just brush it twice a day" the other is all about the great equipment that will take care of it for me - aforementioned Ozone Box and the Tabs cranked...

DFW Area new pool - Rectangular with Auto Cover - No Spa

So PB came by for the official start up and threw the pool water for a loop - I cranked the chlorinator down 10 min after he left but it had already pushed out some choline from the tabs. FC - 6.5 PH - 6.8 TA - 40 CH - 175 CYA - 50 Running the deck jets to raise the PH and will start the...

Dropped some CYA (4 lbs as pool is over 16,000 gal) and also some Muriatic Acid (Per Pool Pal 24 oz to target 7.6 vs current 8.2) Will test in a few more hours - still doing the daily brushing loads of it! The pumps and filter come on line tomorrow. Fingers Crossed.

Fill took about 36 hours with 3/4 inch service line and 3/4 inch hose running 60PSI. Tested the water and there is some change in from the source tests - looks like the pool took away some CH as thats lowered to 125 and the PH is higher at 8.2 FC/CC are both low as this is city water service at...

Coping was about a week late - they ordered too little and ran out, electrical failed inspection because the ditches were not deep enough - 18 inches is the local code. Also each brick in the area of the cover had o be sawn so it would have a flat profile on both sides - pool coping has a round...
