    Prolonging Life of Cell ???

Too cold to swim in the Winter, so every year I turn off my SWG, and add liquid chorine here and there. But when I open the pool in the spring, the cell plates still have white mineral crud stuck to it and needs to be cleaned (water from the hose, soak in dilute acid, etc.). This buildup on...

    Choice of new gas heater?

Have a Minimax 250 that I have kept going for 20 years with repairs along the way. I have fixed this thing so many times it is like an old friend. But the heat exchanger is leaking and I think it is done. Shopping for a new gas heater for 25,000 gal pool. I was thinking Mastertemp due to my...

    Minimax Vacuum Switch Headaches

Minimax 250 NT heater. I know what you are thinking. Get rid of it. But for the most part it still works until recently. Getting a Vacuum Switch error on the digital display and the ignition module. So I replaced the vacuum switch, error persists. I took the fan housing apart. Changed the...

I did my own equipment pad--Please criticize !!!

I used these products below. Both are clear. I found them recommended in a prior post on this forum. Having said that, I was careful not to put too much and wipe off the excess immediately after pushing the pipe into the fitting. On some of the joints I had to use a slower setting glue...

I did my own equipment pad--Please criticize !!!

Was having problems with my existing configuration, see the photo below, the first picture, the one with the dog. I had an awful suction leak that was a struggle to identify. Pump kept running dry, especially when vacuum cleaner was operating. I think the leak came from that inlet valve...

    Reversing Input/Output on Heater

Now I really, really feel like a moron I was trying to transpose the inlet/outlet to facilitate the plumbing. But they are talking about moving the input/output to the other side of the heater !!! I will now go remove the tail between my legs. Thank you

    Reversing Input/Output on Heater

Pentair Minimax. From the factor, heater comes with input on the left, output on the right when you are looking at it. . For my plumbing, this is problematic and involves extra plumbing. The product permits switching of the the input/ output and the manual explains the process. But it is as...

    Straight vs 90° Check Valve

Now that I think about it, the primary reason for the check valve is to make the heater bypass "idiot proof". Instead of a check valve you had a second valve and turned it the wrong way, you could block the flow of water and damage your system.

    Straight vs 90° Check Valve

Sir, I am an avid TFP reader. The website indicates that when installing a heater bypass, a check valve should be placed on the output plumbing of the heater: https://www.troublefreepool.com/wiki/index.php?title=Heater_Bypass Presumably this is to prevent backwards flow into the heater , and...

    Straight vs 90° Check Valve

Plumbing a heater bypass. I use the Jandy valves. The angled check valve will save some plumbing. Any downside?

New filter and redesigning plumbing: 2 Questions

Yes, I see how you have the set up. Probably works for you. However, if a kid tripped over this, I would never hear the end of it. And, I’m basically satisfied with the suction cleaner.

New filter and redesigning plumbing: 2 Questions

In reply to the suggestions above: A robot would be difficult in that I would have to run a low voltage wire across my pool deck. I would rather not have to do that. A suction vacuum works fine. In terms of the diverter lid stripped screw hole, I actually did this trick about five years ago...

New filter and redesigning plumbing: 2 Questions

I am having problems with my current system and would appreciate some help from this resource. Currently I have the configuration below, I have labeled the different components. It is set up such that for an hour a day, the return to the pump switches from the skimmer to a suction pool...

Choice of Suction Pool Cleaner--I am conflicted

Interesting that you would mention to keep my current cleaner which I am leaning towards. Changing the parts once a year is not at all difficult. I get the enthusiasm about robots, but the wiring would be a pain. I have outlets 15 feet from the pool. But I would have to run a low voltage...

Choice of Suction Pool Cleaner--I am conflicted

No I don't have an outlet near the pool and would have to run the low voltage wire over the pool decking which would be awkward.

Choice of Suction Pool Cleaner--I am conflicted

Yes I understand the advantages of the robotic, but I would have to provide wiring and that would involve a lot of extra expense, time and effort.

Choice of Suction Pool Cleaner--I am conflicted

Hi there I have had the old Hayward Pool Vac Ultra for 20 years. I have replaced most of the parts at regular intervals. I have been satisfied with the device for the most part. I use it with the Hayward leaf chamber to keep large leaves out of the filter basket. But recently it stopped...
