Yep i'm new to pools. In all other things in life the pressure gauge reads delivery psi. But it seems that the gauge onthe filter is reading back psi. Is this correct? Should I assume that the higher psi on the gauge is worse?

There is no heater on the system yet. I have already read thru the suction side leaks but it did not resolve the issue. Lather this summer I plan to add a heater and while I am at it move the equipment to a new location. so all these issues will likely be solved then. But till then will jb weld...

So it seems I have a suction side leak. At least I think it is. I always have an air pocket in the pump basket and whenever the pump starts up I get bubbles in the return to the pool. But the bubbles stop until it turns of and sits again. I have tried to isolate this via the hose as suggested...
