    Salt in a chlorine pool

I've noticed on pool math that when I add chilorine I also add salt. What is the effect of adding salt to my chlorine pool? Does salt collect over time like CYA? Or does the salt break down? Do I need to do anything about it?

    Clear?

This is my third SLAM I have done, but things are a little different this time. In the past I always had a CC reading that went to zero just about he same time the water looked clear. This time my CC has always been zero (even though the water was definitely NOT clear to begin with). Throughout...

    SLAM with CYA at zero???

I had a leak in my pool this winter and I lost basically all the CYA. It is now time to get the pool ready for the summer with a SLAM. I know that the lower my CYA is the less chlorine I have to use for my SLAM. Is there any problems with doing a SLAM with a very low CYA?

    TA and PH

Using bleach. Following TFP as closely as I can. My pool builder put in the chlorinator before I knew better. It has been empty for a year now. The only reason I thought a TA of 90 was low was the TFP kit I got says ideal is 100-120 for chlorine pools. So 50 is really my basement as long as...

    TA and PH

If my pool consistently runs a high ph (I have to add muriatic acid once to twice a week) do I care if my TA is a little low? I just measured my TA at 90. If I let me TA continue to drop will it keep my ph from going up as much?

    Lot of Acid

Usually targeting 7.5 - - - Updated - - - No tablets. Small spillover with hot tub (maybe an inch), but I am getting more aeration from the water slide. Aeration should drive my TA down, correct?

    Lot of Acid

So this is my second year following TFP protocol. Started both years with a SLAM and everything has been going well. I have noticed that this year I am having to use a lot more acid than last year. I think this may be due to the fact that I had a slow leak last year that I did not know about...

At what point would a high FC become a problem?

I am in the middle of a SLAM and I am away from the pool for most of the day. How high can I crank up the FC before I have issues? My CYA is 30 so my goal FC is 12 but I know if I have it at 12 when I leave it will be too low by the time I get to put more bleach in. If I get the FC up to 20 I...

    SLAM question

TFP saved me last summer as I was about at my wits end with the pool stores. With tons of help from this forum I did my first SLAM last summer and kept on with the program through the rest of the year with little issues. I left my pool go thorough the winter, but now want to get it ready for...

    Circulation Problems?

I have a automatic vacuum connected to a booster pump that I run the same time I run the filter (8hrs).

    Circulation Problems?

I am a new pool owner. The pool just got finished in May. I struggled at first to keep my chemicals stable and water clear, but then I found TFP. I did a SLAM, I add .5-1 gallon of bleach everyday and my water has been crystal clear with very stable numbers. The one thing that still bothers...

    No Need For Acid

So, I have been following TFP for about 2 months now and I have been loving it. Ever since my SLAM I have to add between 1/2 gallon and 1 gallon of 8.25% everyday and the pool has stayed crystal clear. My question is why have I not had to add any acid yet? Most of the post that I read say...

Lots of "Floaties" Near Light at Night

Re: Lots of "Floaties" Near Light at Night Here is the pool during the day. I can read a quarter at 8 ft. I appreciate the differential Chem Geek. Any suggestions on how to work my way through it? My pool is less than a year old so I hope nothing is deteriorating. I've cleaned...

Lots of "Floaties" Near Light at Night

Re: Lots of "Floaties" Near Light at Night So here it is...They are all underwater and maybe 1-3 mm in size. As soon as they move away from the light you don't see them. During the day the pool is crystal clear and all my levels have been spot on and stable for weeks. - -...

Lots of "Floaties" Near Light at Night

So, I have been doing TFP method for about a month and have been loving the results. Stable chemical levels and amazingly clear water. The one thing I have noticed is I have a ton of "floaties" that I can only see at night only around the pool light. Are these the phosphates that my pool...

PH High, CYA Low...Good time for Trichlor?

I understand all the potential problems with Trichlor, but if my cya is low and my ph is getting high would this be a good time to use some?

Loading Up with Bleach Before Vacation

I am new to TFP. I just finished my first SLAM, am really enjoying the results, and feel like I have a pretty good handle on things. I am going out of town for 10 days and had a question about manging my pool while I am gone. I have read a lot of threads about this and the suggestions I have...
