1.5" to 2" on a Hayward TriStar VSP

Will go over all rings again with lub before making the plumbing change, but I already did when I started the pool and all seemed fine. I do admit that it seems worse this year than last year, so maybe I missed a section or need new rings. I do run at 50% or less all the time so if this is a...

1.5" to 2" on a Hayward TriStar VSP

The 90 is at about 3 inches from the pump inlet. So, I guess I should redo that portion to be at least 10 inches or more. Not sure how I will fit that in my filter shed, but will see if I can do that.

1.5" to 2" on a Hayward TriStar VSP

Hi, I have a Hayward TriStar VSP with 1.5" pipes from pad to pool with a 2" elbow going to the pump. Pipe is also 2" from pump to valve between filter and pump and where the backwash hose is connected. I always have some air in the basket, it can't fill 100%. I also get more air in the basket...

    Opinion on rubber bristles brush

Just to update on this rubber vs nylon brush. I did purchase the rubber bristles brush and used it for few weeks. Yesterday I decided to go back to nylon bristle brush. I found that the rubber bristle were not doing a good job in small nooks (trims holding the liner around the steps) and harder...

If it wasn't for the lack of curved edges which of the 2 (rubber vs poly) would you prefer?

    Opinion on rubber bristles brush

As anyone tried rubber bristles brush? Are they any good? or better stick to polyester/nylon bristled brushes? For a pool with vinyl liner.

    Taylor reagent R-0718 Canada

Seems harder and harder to get source of reagent in Canada. Anyone knows where I could get T-0718 in Canada? All the USA store won't ship to Canada.

Is there a big difference between the various Pool Blaster Max models?

Does it still work fine? I've read many stating it dies after 1-2 years. Asking since I'm considering getting ones, but would like to see it last more than 1-2 years.

Water Tech: iVac350Li or Pool Blaster Max Li?

The handheld Aiper does not seem as powerful as the Water Tech, but I looked at Aiper cordless robot and could be at similar price to the iVac350Li or Pool Blaster Max Li. But, would the robot pick up acorn. It seems like acorn would only be pushed away and not picked up.

Water Tech: iVac350Li or Pool Blaster Max Li?

Looking at getting one of these 2 from Water Tech: iVac350Li or Pool Blaster Max Li. Any opinions, comparison? iVac350 is slightly cheaper in price, and according got water tech rating: iVac 350 as power rating of 520 and Max Li of 365 but not sure which is best design and would last longer.

Water turning green after adding chloring???

No, nothing else than liquide chlorine(sodium hypochlorite), stabilizer, baking soda or muriatic acide goes into my pool, as per TFP rules. No copper or anything comming from pool store. I know I will recover,I just find that odd. The pool is still green, but already going the right way. But...

Water turning green after adding chloring???

Came back from vacation with a nasty surprise... Abnoral storm removed half my pool cover leaving leaves to go into my skimmer and clog it and stopped my filter from pumping water. So, I was withou filtration and SWG not working for some days (not sure how many). Water was a bit clouwdy but...

    Starving pump with vaccum

Ok, will try reducing RPM. I was actually trying the other way around. i will see if it works better at lower RPM next time I vaccum. I already have the gasket lubbed and have teflon tape on drain plugs. as a note, as soon as I unplug the vaccum hose, pump goes back to normal.

    Starving pump with vaccum

Replaced my pump recently, and now with this new TriStar VS I'm seeing starvation when I use the manual vaccum (thru skimmer). Any idea in preventing this? can I use 2" vaccum hose? Would it help? Plumbing is 1.5" from skimmer to pump, than 2" for about 1.5 feet and 1.5" all the way thru 3 way...

New TriStar VSP not completely filling pump basket?

Hi, My pump did die as I predicted it would happen... it started tripping from over heating occasionnally, and started to only be able to run at full speed for a max of 2 minutes. So, I got an Haward TriStar VSP. Now, all seems good, but pump basket will leav about 1/2" of free space before...

    Cloudy water!

The reason for having my CYA at that level is because I have a lot a shade on the pool (many trees, from where these caterpillars are falling from...). At that level CYA I run my SWG at 10-20% only to keep my FC level. If I was to increase it, I don't see what I would gain. I only see the I...

    Cloudy water!

I did start a SLAM for that specific reason, I was all good for weeks, but started to see a little cloudy and lost some FC last night. I was just wondering if others had to SLAM because of caterpillars and no algae. I can only see this from caterpillars, since I never went under the minimum FC...

    Cloudy water!

Hi, Can you get cloudy water from excess organic only, but no algae? My parameters have been like this for weeks: FC = 5 to 6 CC = 0 CYA = 40 TA = 40 CH = 150 Salt = 3200 pH = 7.6 Water started to be slightly cloudy 2 days ago. The only thing I can see, is that we have a lot, and I mean a...

    Pump/filter placement advice

I would put it as far as possible from main area. It's not necessary to cover your equipment, but if you put your equipment in a small shed, it would also sound proof it.

Good deal on a pump too large for my pool?

Deal was too good to be thru. The pump was not an Intelliflo, but an older Intellipro without programming capability. I want to be able to program speed, schedule run time and see the power usage (yes, I'm a bit geeky...) So, now looking at an Hayward TriStar SP3200VSP and a SuperMax VS 343001...

Good deal on a pump too large for my pool?

I do have a pump union already. I do have a timer for my SWCG, but I keep my pump running 24/7 (2 speeds for now) to ensure proper skimming (I have a lot of trees). So, you think it won't be an issue to go with this intelliflo VS. It won't be an issue when it primes and having very high GPM...

Good deal on a pump too large for my pool?

Hi, I might have to relpace my pump this year, was shutting off by hitself last summer with intervales that were reducing. I was looking for a 1.5 HP variable speed pump, but was offered a really good deal on a 3HP intelliflow VS-3050 (half the price of a 1.5HP SuperFlo VS). I know this would...

    Pump cycle on and off

yes, it did get hot. it does not seem to be as prone at low speed, but I tipically run low speed at night. I did run low speed after 15 minute cooling/breaker off and seems better but not sure if it was the cooling time or speed setting. The cooling is now now much better(drilled holes in shed...

    Pump cycle on and off

Pump is running fine when running, no unusual noise. Impeller seems fine. I did improve ventilation around the pump to see if it will go away, but odd that I did not see this in the previous season. Anything else I could look at? - - - Updated - - - By the way, it did not stop since I...

    Pump cycle on and off

Hi, my pump started to cycle on and off 2 days ago. Only happened during the very hot period of the day. I openned the shed door, turned off the breaker for 15-20 minutes and it seemed tombe ok after that. But, this morning it's not that warm and it started to do it again. I'm pretty sure it's...

    Frass(caterpillar poop) and FC level

I having lots of Frass (caterpillar poop pellets) dropping in my pool. This is obviously eating FC, since it's organic. Am I safe in just keeping my FC 2-3ppm higher then target recommendation, until this stops? Or should I do something more. I do clean it everyday, but hard to keep up. I'm...

Since you FC is at 25, your pH reading won't be accurate. You should wait for your FC to drop below 10 before you try to adjust pH.

Dropped algea into pool when removing cover...

OK, so after this is fixed. Short of not using the cover, any other way to prevent this from happening again? Do you have tricks on how to remove cover and prevent to have its top water poored into your pool? or a way to prevent water to collect on top and get transformed into an algea nurserie?
