    Dead algae

Thanks all! Sounds like I need to do some more Slaming and brushing. This pool is so much more trouble to keep clear than my old pool that I wonder if it's worth the trouble or maybe I'm just getting old and it seems that way. I appreciate all the responses!

    Dead algae

I have Slamed which has greatly reduced the amount. It wasn't that bad to start and except for a green film on the bottom the water is basically clear. I just can't seem to get the remainder gone. I have a bad shoulder and am unable to brush for very long which is why I was wondering if there is...

    Dead algae

I have a concrete pool with a cartridge filter. I am having trouble finding a way to get the dead algae off the bottom after shocking. When I manually vacuum it either goes right back into the water or the filter clogs up after a few minutes and I'm constantly having to clean the filter. I have...

    Black Algae Battle

When I have that issue I find that a wire brush is ineffective at getting off the spots but I put a pressure wand on my hose and the water pressure does a great job of removing the spots.

    Vacuuming with cartridge filter

Thank you! Guess I'll keep fighting the best I can. At some point I may add the extra valve or switch over to a sand filter but in the mean time I'll keep doing what I'm doing.

    Vacuuming with cartridge filter

I'll give that a try I don't mind losing water if the algae goes with it.

    Vacuuming with cartridge filter

After slamming my pool and finally getting it clear I am left with dead algae on the bottom. I have always had a sand filter and my new home has cartridge. When I try to vacuum using a conventional hose attached to the skimmer I start out at about 10-15psi and some suction but within minutes my...

    Lime green pool

I moved to Fl last year and this is my first year of having a year round pool. I have always owned a vinyl liner pool with a sand filter and have done my own maintenance. This is my first time owning a concrete pool with cartridge filter and I'm at a bit of a loss. Pool went green practically...

    Cartridge filter pressure problems

I do find it hard to keep the chlorine levels up since moving here. In Tn I used chlorine tabs as well as shock and stabilizer and didnt seem to have an issue but here it seems hard to keep those levels up with the warmer water temps. I have included liquid chlorine which I wasn't familiar with...

    Cartridge filter pressure problems

I recently purchased a home with a concrete pool and a cartridge filter. I have owned homes with pools before but always vinyl liners and sand filters. Despite having a new cartridge filter I find my pressure rising to 30-35 psi each day and my water barely circulating. I have been giving the...
