Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

Well...after taking off work, driving an hour away and preparing for this meeting we JUST got a call that they have to cancel, because the one person who can negotiate a contract had a family emergency. We are so over this PB. We told them we are done with them.

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

I assume PB's started doing this because they can, there are numerous clients who will just sign whatever paper is put in front of them. Only every once in a while do you get a "complicated" customer who knows what they are talking about and the money isn't as "easy" to make. It's a shame really.

Yes, a few complaints but 95% good reviews

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

We don't anticipate being done in time to swim this year :) and for that reason we were able to talk them into a large discount

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

Thank you DaninFLA; I appreciate your help. We did do extensive research to find a builder. Unfortunately we are located in a small town outside of Dallas and a lot of the PB's said they "don't service" our area. We contacted: Southernwind Pools - Does not service our area Custom Outdoor...

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

We did shop around and this was the only PB that (1) would even respond to us (75% didn't bother getting back with us), (2) was willing to work with us on price and (3) seems reputable and their reviews on average are good. The price is $57,500.00, so yes, I want to make sure we are thoroughly...

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

What my husband and I are proposing is 25-25-20-20-10 (excavation, gunite, decking, shade structure/kitchen, retainage).

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

Thanks guys. I am just wondering - when you had your pool built, did you negotiate on your contract terms?

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

I already told them no way no how I am budging on a 10% retainage until everything is completed to our satisfaction...but I didn't know if it was unreasonable to want to pay them after the completion of each phase

Price agreed to but can't agree to contract terms...what to do?

We have narrowed it down to the PB we would like to go with, we agreed on a price, but now we are at the next hurdle which seems impossible to pass. PB gave us a copy of the template contract that they use to review and upon doing so I found numerous things I was not thrilled with, were...

    Contract Specs...Need Help/Advice?!

Showed this to husband...he asked why and I have no idea! Haha I just said "because they said on TFP" Why do we need to have them on individual pipes? What is bad about "daisy chains"?

    Contract Specs...Need Help/Advice?!

Yes :( TFP wouldn't let me upload my pdf under my actual account, so I quickly created an account to add the second attachment. If someone knows a better way, please let me know. I am ashamed at my lack of computer skills! haha

    Contract Specs...Need Help/Advice?!

HAHA! Okay, so no daisy chaining, got it! Anything else? - - - Updated - - - What about a backwash line? Our city doesn't require one, but should we go ahead and have it done in case we ever need to drain or partially drain the pool.

    Too good to be true?

We are in the final stages of pool planning and now comes the non-fun part...finalizing how we will be paying for it! :pth: We are in Texas and see that Lyon Financial apparently has terms for 3.99% for up to 20 years, with no prepayment penalty...seems to good to be true  I know one...

New Pool Build - Austin, TX

This is probably your best bargaining tool. Undersell your budget, if it is $70k, tell them its $60k. Be prepared to "go over your budget" but don't immediately settle for the "best price" they can give you...it usually isn't the best price. My husband and I are, we believe, good at negotiating...

New Pool Build - Austin, TX

Also, remember price isn't EVERYTHING. It is very important obviously but don't go with someone only based on price. If you get a bad vibe from the company or sales man, it isn't worth a few thousand bucks! If something feels off...it probably is! Lastly, the actual moolah isn't the only way to...

Is backwash line and p trap necessary?

PB said it is not necessary because we want a cartridge filter, plus the City we live in does not require it. When we asked "how do you drain the pool, if need be", his response was "draining the pool is the worst thing that you could do". We said "okay, but what if repairs to structure or...
