    Pool Math........The App

Ok, force stop, clear data worked. I upgraded for 8 dollars, but I dont see on the app a button to restore my data. I did export my data during the beta testing (although I did not do it right before I updated the app so I might have lost a few days)

    8 Day Slam

I think its time to check things like lights, stairs, skimmers, and give them a good brushing. I don't know much on sand filters but have been backwashing it? I know on my DE filter I need to break it down and clean it at least a couple times a year.

    Pool Math........The App

Hey guys I got the beta version for my android about 5 days ago, yesterday I did the update that allows for export backup but now I noticed a bug. I can't log any new entries. I can see the plus sign on the lower right but any time I click it it actually just clicks the log under it. I have...

Year 3 pool opening, Confused on what just happened

to Samt, I did remove 90% of the debris in the pool, when I removed the cover I was able to control where the remaining leaves were dumped into the shallow end which made it easy to scoop while the water was still clear enough. If my garden hose was faster or I did not have other plans over...

Year 3 pool opening, Confused on what just happened

Year 3 of opening my pool with a light blocking mesh cover, and each year results in cover sinking into pool with leaves on it, and not draining through the cover. I tried this year to drain it and got a lot of water off the cover but eventually I think the water flowing through the mesh was...

Chlorinator makes sucking noise when pump turns off; air leak?

I have the Hayward offline Chlorinator and I have a similar gurgling problem. Like you my pump does not loose prime but my return hoses fill up with air so when the pump refires it bubbles at first.

    What's your current pool temp?

77F last night, Solar Cover is working well. Last year the highest I ever saw was 80F and that was one day after 3 days of mid 90s temp (very rare here in Southeast Mass) temps and sun look good all week If I hit 80F by sunday I will call the cover a worthy purchase.

    DIY Solar Cover Roller

So where are you guys buying this pipe? I am looking online for a 2' by 20ft length, and every time I proceed to checkout the shipping is close to 200 dollars. I don't know if its the length of 20ft or that they only ship in bulk. I guess I could do two 10ft sections and then connect them...

    DIY Solar Cover Roller

Thanks for the input, so is the length your talking the pipe length? How about the width of each section? With my Pool being 20ft wide my pipe would have to be 20ft but then I can varry the dimensions that gets rolled

    DIY Solar Cover Roller

Hey I just got my first solar cover and found this thread as a good alternative to the reals. My pool shape is pretty basic (20x40 rectangle with rounded edges) but I think I will need to rollers to make it more manageable. My thought is to do 20ft rollers and then do the shallow end as 15ft...

Heat Pump near Boston MA - recommendations

gb99 what is your normal pool temp range? I am in southeast Mass with a 20x40 inground pool. The shallow end is in full sun most of the day but the deep end only gets sun between 530 and 630 at night. All last year between July and Aug I was anywhere from 74 to a best of 79 (briefly). I...

    How long can SLAMs run?

Have you broken down and cleaned your DE filter inside and out? Last year I SLAMed my pool and it was a success, but after about 3 weeks I have a slight algae bloom and did a re SLAM but it would not clear. I broke down the DE filter and all the material was super green! I had to let the...

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

My returns were aimed a little low to help stir the bottom during the SLAM, I pointed them back up so that they just break the surface tension of the water. Thats how I had them all last year and it worked well for moving floating debris into the skimmers and maybe helped aerate the pool a...

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

I finally jumped in the pool on Sunday, temp outside was 71F pool was 69F. I could not get out of the pool fast enough but I needed to do it. Latest test results FC 5 CC less then 0.5 CYA 30 PH 7.2 (currently trying to raise it) CH 120 TA 50 Latest picture, gets better with each picture but...

    Swamp!

I am in a similar boat, on day 14 of my SLAM so I feel your pain. when I look at my pool I feel like I have made zero progress in the last week, but if you take a picture of the pool each day and compare them back to back I bet you can see the slight improvement each day. In the beginning the...

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

At 9pm last night FC was 8.5 and CC was less then 0.5. So I only lost 3ppm between 5am and 9pm (16hrs) and it was a bright sunny day. I raised back to shock level one last time and I think I am calling it done. all three tests have passed from this morning

I was not able to check the last couple days because I was waiting on a refill, but I will find out today. Weather today is sunny cool and windy so I would think it will be on the higher end of normal.

Ok my last post I was going from memory on the numbers my TA is actually 50 not 70. So yesterday I got my refill so I could continue testing Free Chlorine. Yesterday at about 430pm PH 7.0 FC 3.5 (lower then I would have expected, 48hrs before I was at FC 10, and yesterday I added 128oz of...

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

Yea I want my CH to be close to the acceptable range for fiberglass pools because of the fiberglass stairs. I can't check the PH because of the SLAM thats why I was thinking of stopping the SLAM so I could actually check it. When I get my tester refill I will double check the CC is less the 0.5

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

The Mesh cover is that ultra fine mesh and honestly looks solid, but it should allow water to flow through it slowly. I definitally need to a better job closing and opening my pool, I was in a rush last fall with leaves and the leak, and then through out the winter I should have made sure no...

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

I think I am on Day 12 of the SLAM, I am seeing very little to almost no improvement of the pool over the last 5 to 6 days. Although the filter can now run for 8 plus hours before needing a bump. Last test results FC 10 CC 0.5 CYA just under 30 PH N/A TA 30 CH 40 this is just the other day...

2nd year opening a pool still a battle

I purchased my house in the winter of 2014, and through the use of this site I was able to re-open a pool that had been closed for 5 years, with 3 or more years with no cover. It was a lot of work and took a month and half but It finally did clear and we enjoyed it all summer. Fast forward to...

    Is bottom drain needed?

I think you might have a problem keeping that pump fed with water with only 1 skimmer. I have a 20X40 inground liner pool, it has no main drain but has two skimmers and two returns. The water drops about 1 inch in the skimmer basket from the pool with the pump running 1.5hp pump with DE filter...

Older In ground Liner Pool skimmer and stair gaskets

OK I tackled the Stair Gasket this weekend below is some photos. The two vertical trims had good gasket coverage under the liner and it all felt like it was working well. The bottom horizontal trim gasket was very slimy or not even there, so it must have been where the leak was. The other...
