    Cover blew off during hurricane

Yep. It's only seen 1 season. So maybe a half gallon?

    Cover blew off during hurricane

Our cover blew off during Sandy and now we have a green pool. During the storm we had to hook up a drainage hose so the excess water would drain out...it rained for like 5 days straight here in Norfolk...so we still just have water below the skimmer. All the other equipment is put away nicely...

Clear pool but algae in, on and behind the stair

The pool will be covered and we will be hiring a pool company to check the pool twice a year.

    Liner replacement questions

I should edit to say that we had 2 holes in the first year just from the ladder sitting on the bottom of the pool and the ladder had soft felt thingies on the bottom of it.

    Liner replacement questions

Yes, I confirmed the pool wall height...48"...and we had to measure the height of the liner to make sure there wasn't a defect. It is 52" from bottom seam to top. It looks like our bottom seam is within about an inch of the pool wall. We are currently draining some of the water so we can...

    Liner replacement questions

I'm at my wits end with this project. We started replacing our liner on Satruday...emptied the pool, cut the liner out, laid the new liner out in the sun...here it is Tuesday and we are still messing with it! We had problems getting it to stretch because it hasn't been the warmest here the past...

Clear pool but algae in, on and behind the stair

Also must point out that the sides that the treads connect to are filled half way with sand per manufacturers instructions. Not sure if that water is also algae-fide as of yet.

Clear pool but algae in, on and behind the stair

Not sure. The steps are probably 3" thick and have small holes in them already. They also have circulation holes on the sides. I have these http://www.doheny.com/poolsupplies/Migh ... QgodBEsAGg

Clear pool but algae in, on and behind the stair

I have something similar to wedding cake steps but smaller. My pool has been clear all summer. I am currently draining the pool so we can install a new liner due to some major tears and we will be renting out the house in Jan. Anyway, I unscrewed the stairs from the deck and pulled them to the...

Water Fall for an Above Ground Pool has anybody tried?

I did something last year using the return on my pool and some PVC to make a sort of fountain in our pool but on the side. I am guessing you could possibly do the same if you could figure out a rig.

    Aeration, whoda thunk it?

Chem Geek...I thought about that after typing this and you are probably right. I am sitting here now, next to my sparkler, wondering if I should just make myself a new return since my, for a better word, sucks. I mean it was cheap and easy to make the aerator, why not make a longer return that I...

    Aeration, whoda thunk it?

We "opened" our pool to a green swamp monster back at the end of March. Yeah, early, but when your cover disappears with the wind, well... Anyway, after almost 2 months of constant chlorine shocking and endless cases of beer and wine, I was about to give up because we STILL couldn't see the...

Pictures of deck for new pool

I "heard" that as long as it isn't attached to your home, it is well within "code". Ours is small anyway and it can be taken down so I am with you.

*** UPDATED *** AGP install pics

I really need to do this to mine...with the pvc and a platform...but the husband built the deck so dang close to my gear I am afraid to even try. Would I have to lower the water level to do all this or just close off the "holes"?

Anyone have experience with this ladder/steps?

I have the second one and it attaches to the deck.

We put the pool back up!!!

Where did you get the little cake steps? We can't find small ones anywhere!

    Passed overnight test but...

I do not cover it, no. My cover was lost in a winter storm and I do not have the funds to replace it right now. I just did a recheck and since last post my FC has dropped to 8 and CC is at 1. I will shock again. I don't mind shocking, just want my clear pool. :-)

    Passed overnight test but...

New numbers this morning have me a bit frustrated. The dog DID get in the pool last night. Obviously the 90 degree weather made her a bit too hot! Anyway... FC 11 CC 1.5 :-( TC 12.5 pH 7.5 TA 120 CYA 60 Since my CC is up from .5 to 1.5 do I shock again or leave it alone?? I assume it is...

    Passed overnight test but...

...water is still cloudy blue. Should I drop it back down to normal chlorine levels and wait? My numbers look fine (TA might be a little high), sand got changed about 2 weeks ago. FC: 20 TC: 20.5 pH: 7.8 TA: 120 CYA: 75 I am ASSUMING my CYA is still 75, haven't checked it in a few days. I've...

Want to make sure I am doing my shock right.

That looks how mine used to look! Keep at it! It takes a while, but you will get there! I am at milky light blue and almost gave up and drained.

    Cloudy water again this year

You really need to shock your pool and in order to do that you need to keep it at shock level until it clears. Shock for your size is 15, but only if you can get and maintain your CYA between 30 and 50. Mustard algae is a yellowish color more than green. Sounds like you have a good green algae...

Pool Cover Gone, Algae Took Over

No frozen water here...yet. It's supposed to get cold-er this weekend. They say around freezing, but the pool has only really "froze" 1 time and that was when it dipped into the low 20s for about a week. I am going to go ahead and shock the Crud out of it and see what I can do. My bot fried on...

Pool Cover Gone, Algae Took Over

Virginia got a HUGE winter storm with 14+ inches of snow that took out, not only our deck umbrella, but it put so much wet snow on our pool cover, it ripped and dumped snow and some leaves into the pool. It is now a pit of algae since I have been working so much and haven't had time to assess...

Question about my pool after Neighbor's House fire *UPDATE*

Yes, oily stuff WAS on the surface but there was soot and ash on the bottom that was NOT coming out with just vacuuming to waste. I have a light green pool right now, with only leaves on the bottom from various wind storms. I clean out the leaves every other day and still get a little brownish...

Question about my pool after Neighbor's House fire *UPDATE*

To get rid of the oily residue it was recommended to use a towel stuffed in panty hose and put in the skimmer basket. BOY has this worked! The stuff that has accumulated is like a brownish black and, of course, there is algae residue also collecting. It's pretty gross. I have already vacuumed...

Re: Question about my pool after Neighbor's House fire In case anyone is interested I got this from a pool guy out here that used to do pools in San Diego where they had a lot of fires! VERY helpful info and you can do it yourself especially if you have a smaller pool like mine. Swimming...

Question about my pool after Neighbor's House fire *UPDATE*

Re: Question about my pool after Neighbor's House fire There were so many people over there but they were IN the house. I had to leave and when I came back they were all gone. I called MY insurance company and they said I can claim it on mine or go ask them and depending on their coverage, I...
