Losing 6 FC level in 9 hours?

170171322 is the number on the side. - - - Updated - - - I don't have the reagent left to test the CYA again but I added 1 quart 7oz of CYA and no water has been drained so it's in there and is around 55-60

Losing 6 FC level in 9 hours?

Thanks guys, it's 26 foot round pool that average about 44" depth. I've calculated it at 14.5K gallons. The chlorine is all relatively new, I just got it from Rural King last week actually! Some new readings to share. Midnight FC 11 7/14 8:30am FC 11, CC- 0 4pm FC 6.5 CC- 0 added 11 cups...

Losing 6 FC level in 9 hours?

There is a ladder but I checked it out yesterday and couldn't see any problems. I did an overnight test last night and didn't lose any chlorine and the CC's are measuring at 0.

Losing 6 FC level in 9 hours?

I tested at noon at it was at 7.5, I have roughly a 55 level CYA so i shoot for 7 - 9 so I added 7 cups to raise it to 11. I checked it at 9:30pm expecting it to be around 7 or 8 and find it at 5. Is this a normal loss? My water is 90F and it was really hot today and the sun is on the pool...

What did you do to your pool today?

Great idea! My mom will now call me crazy the rest of the year for adding Pool Shock to my laundry. :)

What did you do to your pool today?

You guys are way more productive than me. I am enjoying swimming in September. Daytime temperatures have been mid 90's all week, which has warmed the water somewhat. It's even warm enough to do some night time swimming. I am an avid star gazer so I just love floating and looking up at the night...

Water boatmen / water beetle attack! What can I do?

I will try it, thank you sir! Also, it could be that my current was dragging them toward me but it was enough to get a high pitched squeal out of me. Now your mental image is more vivid. :D - - - Updated - - - I'm kind of scared of bats but maybe this could be my origin story? :p - - -...

Water boatmen / water beetle attack! What can I do?

Yesterday I hunted and smashed about 8 of these little swimming nightmares. Most of the time they were swimming directly at me as I ran away trying to find a net to capture them. I read that they usually feed on algae so I did an OCLT last night and didn't lose anything at all, so I don't think...

Got my kit & weirded out by my numbers

I would add CYA up to 30 before slamming as well, otherwise it will be hard to keep the FC levels up to shock levels during the day. Edit: Never mind, I did not comprehend that you already added it, it's probably just not registering on the test yet.

First time pool owner, first time poster

Wouldn't it be 4 as a minimum playing it safe and assuming 50? I always assumed the target rate was what to shoot for and then keep it from drifting below the minimum, but should I be keeping it at or above the target at all time?

Thanks for the tip, DanielP! I didn't know you could replace it. I still need a new solution as the last one cracked it in short order.

Need vacuum hookup help for intex without skimmer. Picture and backstory inside.

Oh, you mean running it through the inlet? My pool has two and they are rather small, I don't get very good suction when I do that and I had to rig up something to keep them secure (one slipped off and lost a lot of water, they are cheaply made) and it makes the circle not uniform so the plugs...

Need vacuum hookup help for intex without skimmer. Picture and backstory inside.

Drywall guy, I will get another picture tomorrow when the sun comes out. It is the white hose at the bottom right in my first picture. RickW, thank you! So that will fit right onto the leaf basket and then connect to a 1 1/4 hose, correct? I just want to make sure I have it straight before I buy.

    26' X 52" Intex Ultra Frame Install

Nice. Next year I plan to spend more time on the pavers as well. I kind of rough eyeballed it and some of them were pretty close to the edge by the time it was filled. They still make me a little nervous.

Yea, I bought one of those skimmers and couldn't get the clamp to fit over the rail. Even if I did it, the height was also way off so I sent it back. If yours fits let me know what brand it is as I would be willing to give it a try.

Ok, so this is starting to drive me a little mad, this is what has happened thus far. We bought a hose from walmart that was a 2inch, 35 ft hose and set out to find something that would fit into the white hose coming out of the basket (which I have a spare for) and fit onto the other end of my...

    moving legs

Yea, it looks like the pool pudged out and the legs are stretching to hug them tight. I wouldn't worry about it, if the legs aren't where they need to be they will definitely move on their own but as long as they are all touching and sturdy it will be fine.

I have the same pool on pavers as well and all of mine look like they are bending toward the pool. The legs get to where they need to be under the force of the water.

Intex 26' pool first year, rust starting on many T-joints

Yea, I finally got everything with the pool sorted and am at that blissful point of just adding about 2ppm of FC each night and smooth sailing and now another problem. Bleh. It makes me worry about what is happening where I can't see if the materials weren't properly finished or treated. I will...

Intex 26' pool first year, rust starting on many T-joints

I'm not sure what to do about this, it hasn't been 90 days since I bought the pool and I just noticed rust starting on probably 10 out of 26 T-joints. Is this normal for intex pools? What can I do about it? I mean, I am really not prepared to take my entire pool down and apart to replace it...

Proper Hose for Backwashing an Intex?

I have this same setup and just figured out something that works. I took the white hose that you use to backwash and that connects to the inlets and took my vacuum hose to True Value and they found me a piece that fits securely in both. Now I just close the inlet hose, unscrew it and pop on the...

Algae in top seam of Intex ultra frame pool but not in water.

I recently peeled open the seam where water collects near the top of my intex pool and found that some of the seams were filled with out of control algae. I know for a fact that it isn't in my pool growing as the chlorine levels have been consistent and I did an overnight chlorine test last...

    New liner with wrinkles

My wrinkles make it easier for me to vacuum because all the debris seems to settle right there. I can get 80% of the debris with one stroke down the seam. :p

And now my watch is ended.

Ah cool. Then I will just monitor it and see what I lose and if it's more than 2-3ppm per day I will follow Richard's advice and bump it up to 50. Thanks guys!
