Using a pressure side cleaner with skimmer closed

Started closing my inground pool (first time doing it myself) and got delayed due to storms for a couple of days, so it's partially done. I have water drained below the skimmer, but still above the returns (thanks rain!). I took the jet fiitings off, but that's as far as I got. Being caught by...

    First Year of TFPC

Another Michigander chiming in (it's a party now!) - I'm around 30 CYA (after having to drain 4 ft. last year due to high CYA that I inherited) and losing about the same amount of FC each day as well. Very little shade on my pool also. I started TFP method last year. This year it is C-R-Y-S-T-A-L!

How Long Should My SLAM Take

Re: I think I've fought off the algae, but I have a filter question... Definitely take the advice to start your own thread. I can tell you, I'm in the blue cloudy stage and it appears to have no end in sight. I can actually slightly see the brush when I put it to the floor in the shallow end...

I think I've fought off the algae, but I have a filter question...

Thanks! I've seen references to doing this. I was trying to avoid spending MORE money, but at this point, hey - what's another $25. :)

I think I've fought off the algae, but I have a filter question...

Thanks Joe. That's what I'd been reading, but I guess I just expected some pressure increase to happen faster. Patience...patience...which I've also read in so many of these threads. :P

I think I've fought off the algae, but I have a filter question...

I passed two of the three criteria for fighting off the algae (FC/CC/OCLT) this last evening (I think I would've passed a couple days ago, but was out of reagent), but I still have the cloudy blue water. I can tell it is getting better, but it's taking it's dear sweet time. I've been running the...

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

Just came across an old Bioguard test the previous owners had done in 2012. On the sheet it says Cya ideal level "30-200"!

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

I was able to test with the Taylor 2006 today. Cya 100+ (can't tell how high actually, because it only goes to 100) Ph 7.5 FC 13.2 CC 0 TA 170 From what I understand, I'm looking at partial drainage until I get Cya down.

Hayward CL200 Chlorine Feeder stopping use

I have a Hayward CL200 Chlorine Feeder that is already installed. If I wanted to stop using it, is it just as simple as not putting any more pucks into it, or is there something additional that should be done?

Thanks for your super-fast reply Tim. I'll post back on Wednesday, when I have a chance to test it myself.

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

Crystal clear, but some high numbers - safe to swim? Noob pool owner. Pool was opened one week ago today. Only numbers I have so far are from pool store 4 days ago (self-test kit arrives Wednesday). Water is crystal clear. "Looks" beautiful. Based on these numbers from the pool store, is it...

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

Ah, Isaac, I miss Louisiana! (Lived in Mandeville for a few years) - Yes, I'm glad I didn't buy the pucks that I was about to yesterday. I was going to order a K-2006 test kit, since I could get it quickly via Prime, but I see everyone endorses the TF-100 and I reviewed the comparison table...

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

Thanks everyone for all the quick feedback and the welcomes! The pool looks pretty good - maybe a little cloudy if anything, but color looks good to the untrained eye. Thanks for the information on "how that happened" Richard320. I was definitely wondering. The previous owner said he put 4-5 3"...

Opened the pool and first store test results very high Chlorine and CYA levels

Complete pool newb here, but I'm quickly learning about the "joy" of pool ownership. We just opened the pool this week on Monday. Actually had the professional that put the pool in originally do it, as I knew nothing. Anyway, I took a water sample to the local store last night and here are my...
