ajw, Not sure what you mean by that. The pool has a skimmer basket on the side with suction to the pool pumps with a 1 hp motor.

Suggestions for non robot or light-weight pool cleaner please

I have a Dolphin robot which is a great pool cleaner, really like it. Works well for past couple years, no issues. Problem is due to some issues with my back I can't lift it out of the pool any longer when its done cleaning in order to remove and clean the filters. Those things get pretty heavy...

    Chlorine keeps rising

I use the Taylor test kit and the regents about 3 months old. After rechecking my records I see that I added 3 chlorine tabs after the 9/24 chlorine test since the chlorinator was down to 1 tab at that time. I guess I must assume the 3 chlorine tabs caused the increase but its still the first...

    Chlorine keeps rising

________________ No, I do not have a SWG and I am the only one who takes care of the pool. The CYA has always stayed pretty constant at the 35-45 level. The pool water looks very good, very clear with no signs of any algea. I have considered a partial drain and refill but even the rain has not...

Is new vinyl pool liner too small?

I have an in ground 16'x32' pool, just had new liner installed about 10 days ago. It is a 27 ml thick liner. Where the wall meets the floor the liner has a built in line that aligns itself perfectly where the wall meets the fool in the deep end. Seems to a guide line. When it gets to the...

Free chlorine & Total chlorine read identical

I have a 30k gal in ground vinyl pool. I have been using the Lamotte Color Q regents with digital readout for testing. Since mid Sept, about 6 weeks now, the readings for free chlorine and total chlorine have been identical. The PH stays stable at 7.4-7.5, the alk stays between 90-105, cya stays...

Stains caused by wire brush bristles

Follow up: After my last post, I put the rest of the 10 lb bag of ascorbic acid, about 5 lbs, in the pool and let the pump run 24 hours. After that I put in a qt of Metal Magic and let the pump run 48 hours. The stains are all gone. Completely gone and have not returned. I added a box of...

Stains caused by wire brush bristles

Thanks for the response. I got a 10 lb bag of ascorbic acid, put about 1/2 the bag in socks and put them on the stains. The stains came out within 5-10 minutes. I was quite happy until the next day when I noticed they were back again. They were lighter in color, but they did come back. I've got...

Stains caused by wire brush bristles

As I said in the original post, I had some black stains on the stairs, not the vinyl, suspected black mold, scrubbed them with wire brush first, then silver algaecide. Those stains are gone now so that must have been what it was.

Stains caused by wire brush bristles

16x32, 16,000 gal pool with vinyl liner. I was brushing some stains on my pool steps with a wire brush and didn’t realize that some of the wire filaments from the brush worked loose and went into the pool. I saw them the next day on the bottom of the pool with a small brown stain around each one...
