Pool water tastes like I have my tongue on a 9 Volt battery.

I got my new pool set up and finally finished filling it up last night. (updated my signature line) I added 27oz of the HTH Stabilizer (CYA) per recommendation from the pool calculator. Ran the cartridge filter that came with the pool for 4hrs. (waiting for new sand filter system to come in)...

In the market for a new AG pool. What should I look for?

Long time no see! Sorry for being away so long. (2+ years) Went through some personal issues. I feel as if I am competent enough to upgrade from my Intex pool to a "real pool" I have went to the 2 closest pool stores (24mi away) And they are wanting $4,000+ for a 21ft round pool package and...

    Pool Chiller comments?

With the last 3 weeks or so of 90+ degree heat I find my pool not being used and the wife and kids going to the local public pool, sometimes driving a little further and retreating in a local beach. I have rigged up fountains, bought fountains. Bought paint, and the outside of our pool is now...

    run pump day or night?

If you have the same electrical rates 24/7 then it is basically a just a personal preference. If you run your pump during the day, the water temp will be higher. If ran at night your water temp will be a little cooler. My wife and I can't stand a 2000 gallon bath tub like a lot of people do...

    Thank you and pictures

the box/contraption at the bottom of the picture, is that where you house your filter, SWG, etc? If so, is it home made? Store bought? I'm interested in getting or building one of my own.

    Census Poll on Intex Users

Except for out growing it, we love our 12ft Intex pool! set it up once, and it has endured almost 3yrs of weather. Rain, Hail, and snow! After this summer, we will let it have eternal rest and replace it with a bigger permanent one.

How to keep your little swimmers from getting burnt?

I have a 6yr old and a soon to be 5yr old. I let them go swimming this past Monday in the pool for about 3-4hrs while I was about 15ft away in the shade doing some work on the laptop. My wife comes home and gives me holy :whip: the girls are little lobsters!!! They will be going swimming...

What to do with pump and filter?

Got a new plug and installed it on the pump cord. While I had the pump semi dissassembled, I took an air hose to it and blew all the gunk out, cob webs, dust and dirt. Put it back together, surprisingly didn't have any screws left over. lol Turned it on and she fired right up. Took John T's...

I have fixed inlet spouts. So until its all gone, I only have my pull filled enough to barely cover the return so the top of the water is rather swirly. my girls love it. lol

Not enough room to refill sand filter to recomended weight

Re: Not enough room to refill sand filter to recomended weig Yes it did. Isn't there a dip/shallow hole in the bottom of the filter that you seat the stand pipe in? The only thing I can think of is while you were pouring the sand in, someone pulled on the the stand pipe causing it to raise...

Not enough room to refill sand filter to recomended weight

Re: Not enough room to refill sand filter to recomended weig I noticed that in your signature line you have "Jacuzzi 190L" for your filter. I have the exact same model as you do. If I remember correctly, I could only get about 1/2 of the 4th 50lb bag into the filter. When turned on, it put...

What to do with pump and filter?

oh I don't know. usually until the water has cleared up some. I don't think I have ever let it go for more than 30 seconds at the most. Since when I backwash there is sand coming out, I just usually wait until the water is no longer brown or green.

What to do with pump and filter?

Thanks! now what would cause the psi to jump up rather quickly? I took the filter head? off for the first time in two years. Sand is 3 3/4in below the center pvc pipe and this is what I found. Should I have all this junk inside the filter after back washing?

We will be getting a new above ground pool install next spring. Due to the hot weather this summer, we haven't used our old pool as much as we would have liked. kinda pointless to jump in a pool with 92 degree water. Anyways, My wife popped the question about keeping our new pool cool. and...

I read Dave's solution to cooling off the pool with a fountain, How would I go about getting this to work on a cheap intex pool? pocket book is running low due to 4 complete refills this year only to enjoy it for two days after each fill up. I beefed up the filter system on it to a Hayward...

Hi Folks, The last few weeks I have had quite a bit of rain fall in my area. although my pool is clean and no pressure build up, Is it ok to back wash and lose some of the "free" water? Or would it not be advised, instead, just let the kids splash the water out while swimming/playing. There...
