Differences in Dolphin DX5i and Triton PS

I am looking for a new pool cleaner and want to get away from a suction style one. I like these 2 models but I cant find what is different about them. The Maytronics website shows the same specs for both. Anyone here have any insight on the differences and if one is better then the other? I...

TA went UP 30 when adding Muratic Acid to lower 30

I checked it this morning but didnt take those numbers with me to work this morning. :( I'll look again tonight. I seem to remember I was still in the 7's. Makes me wonder more if the "Muratic Acid" bottle was not what it says it was. It was purchased in a 2 pack from Home Deport last year...

TA went UP 30 when adding Muratic Acid to lower 30

I'm trying to get my water better balanced this year then the last and my TA and CH were off. I've been guilty the last 2 ears of focusing on PH, CYA, and CL and letting the rest slide, luckily without too much problems. My readings yesterday were: TA=130 CH=80 CL = 8 (I have been adding...

Pump Recommendation for pool with Chlorine Generator

I have an in ground, Vinyl lined 18' x 36' pool with 8' deep end. Roughly 25,000 gal. 2" PVC, short distance to the pad, single skimmer, bottom "Drains", 2 returns My pool pump is on it's last leg. I've had the motor rebuild a few times and can no longer read the specs or the HP rating. I...

Best ways to deal with that darn solar cover

I've been covering my pool every day with the solar cover to keep the heat in and extend my swiming season. My problem is I just hate dealing with the hassle of the solar cover reel. It's a pain to get the cover on strait. It's a 2 person job to do it right. Getting it back on the pool...

    Solar Cover

I agree with Ping. I leave my solar cover (BLUE) on all the time. We like the pool to be 88-90. I would agree that Algae grows easier with the cover on, however I would not let that discourage you from leaving the cover on and extending your season. I keep my CL near or over 5ppm if I know...

    Reading CYA test

I had the same issue. My wife would see a much lower level (higher amount of liquid). I just ignore her reading and everything has been great! :) all kidding aside, I have a swg, so I shoot a little toward her reading as higher is not a problem. We get enough rain, I'm pumping off an inch...

Pool chemestry application for android phone

I looked for one a while back and gave up. Now I just keep a spreadsheet on my phone and have a link saved to my home screen for the TFP pool math. If you find something better, I'd love to hear about it!

    Cant keep Chlorine!

Thanks everyone for you help! This holiday weekend we were able to swim and the pool looks great. Holding chlorine without a problem and the water looks great! Still need to work on raising my CYA but otherwise everything is perfect! Thanks again!

    Cant keep Chlorine!

I checked this afternoon and I went from FC=20 to FC of only 7 this afternoon! My CYA is only 30 and it has been sunny, but that sounds like a big drop. Should I be concerned or is this likely because how low my CYA level is? PH=7.2 FC=7 Cc=0 CYA=30 TA=130 Temp=78 Thanks!

    Cant keep Chlorine!

I think my SLAMing is done! At 9pm last night my readings were: FC=20.7 CC = 0.5 At 7:15am this morning: FC=20 CC=0.5 Overnight loss of .7, 0.5 or less CC, and the water is clear! My questions is I know my CYA level is lower than ideal for my salt system but I want to use the pool next...

    Cant keep Chlorine!

Yea, I switch to the 10ml sample after when I realized I'm going to run out of reagents before I finish my SLAM! More than half the R-0871 (FAS-DPD Titrating Reagent) is gone as well as half the R-0013 (Cyanuric acid reagent) and I just bought the kit Friday! Just ordered more on Amazon...

    Cant keep Chlorine!

Thanks Tim. After I posed the question about the SWG I turned it off. I got thinking about the OCLT and thought I'm never going to get an accurate reading if I'm constantly adding to it! I was thinking the same thing you were. Continue today and see how much I lose tonight. Thanks for...

    Cant keep Chlorine!

    What a difference even 1 day has made! Prior to SLAM @ 7pm TC=.6 CC=.4 Begin SLAM @ 5/15/15 8:30 PM TC=16.5 CC = 1 Added 60 oz Bleach for expected reading of 18.1 if no loss on next round 5/15/15 @ 10 pm TC= 16.5 CC = 1 Drop of 1.6 from post CL add @ 7pm. Added 60 oz = TC of 19.7 5/15/15 @...

    Cant keep Chlorine!

Tim5055, I understand that I am trying to hold a level, however I'm not going to stand over the pool and check it every 5 min! It states to check it between 2 and 24 times a day. SO, The first time am I starting with 1 gallon jug or a 55 gallon jug? I'm just looking for a starting point to...

    Cant keep Chlorine!

Thanks AZgirl! I was planning on doing just that now that I have a test kit that I can measure FC. I know every pool is different, but I have no idea how much bleach to start with. 1 bottle? 5 bottles? Do you have a suggestion on how much to try in the first wave? Thanks again! I really...

    Cant keep Chlorine!

I have a 25,000 gallon 18' x 36' pool with a Chlorine generator and a 2 HP pump that runs continuously. I just opened the pool 2 weeks ago and can't keep chlorine. The water was cloudy but not green when I opened it and phosphates were above 2500. I added over $150 worth of phos-free products...
