Need to buy a new pump

My pump is dead. I need to buy a new one, and at the same time I am going to move my equipment pad so plumbing will have to be completely redone, easier to install any pool pump rather than a direct replacement. My current pump is Hayward SP2607X10. It's a 1HP pump with SF of 1.5. It's an old...

    Heater and return line

I re-plumbed my pump pad area this year. One thing I changed was the orientation of the return lines. I have two returns. Only one was heated. Someone branched the return line from the filter to the heater., so I only had heat coming out of one return. While I was changing things, I put the...

    Pool Pump Wiring

Does anyone have this particular pool pump in operation that can help me with wiring for 115? I can’t find anything online... The side of this pump has the label nearly washed off. I can’t quite understand how I’m supposed to wire this...Can anyone share a photo of the side of their motor...

Ball valve on multiport for backwash?

My system has a ball valve piped into the discharge line of the multiport for the backwash cycle. That seems redundant and unnecessary… Is there a purpose or point to having a ball valve on the backwash line, or can I just remove it?

    Pump Noise

Can there be any other reason than this thing is starting its death cry? Pump noise - YouTube It just started doing this on startup this morning. Pump is fully primed and has been. My guess, is I need to start shopping for a new one? If so, any suggestions are welcome.

The biggest problem with this TFP method!

The biggest problem I see with following the advice on this forum is the crystal clear water! I mean, it’s infuriating to be able to see every kernel of sand at 8’.

    CH & Vinyl

Is there any point to caring about CH values with vinyl liner? Can it be too high/low? I've been ignoring it based on the information I've read here, but I still occasionally test for it. Is it even necessary to test for it? My CH is 160. I really don't know if that means anything in the grand...

    Air Leak

I seem to be getting some air into my returns. I also noticed this morning that the pump basket reservoir had drained with the pump off. It regained prime easily but up to this point it has always held water perfectly. Here’s a vid of my pressure side port bubbles: Leak? - YouTube I ordered...

Brain Fog & FC Expectations with Poolmath

I’m trying to reign in my Poolmath calculations by adjusting gallons used and doing a kind of trial and error approach. I’ve been capturing FC expectations over the past few days and doing retests about 45 minutes after any additions of bleach, while the pump is running. I’ve been using the 25...

    Poolmath vs Chlorine/CYA FC Recommendation

My non-SWG vinyl pool has CYA at 50ppm. Poolmath says my FC range is 4 - 8. The CYA/Chlorine chart says 4 - 6. Why aren’t they the same? Does it matter which target is used??

    Testing Problem?

I tested my pool this morning before cleaning it or removing the solar cover. The pump had been running about an hour: FC 3 CC 1 PH 7.6 TA 80 So I added 25 oz bleach according to pool math (8.25% just to bump 1ppm). I also added half of the borax to bump my pH to 7.7. That was about 14 oz by...

    Oh Yeah!

Pulled my numbers this morning: FC 4 CC .5 PH 7.6 TA 80 CYA 45 Added my daily dose of 40 oz of bleach and I’m done. It’s been a few weeks of toying with these values and doing a partial drain and fill to dial them in but I think I’m there! Big thanks to this forum for the knowledge...

    TA Testing

When doing the drop test for TA there’s usually a slight color change and then an obvious color change with the next drop. Which drop should I be using for my readings?

Pool Chemicals Left By Previous Owner

I have chemicals left by the previous owner I'm trying to sort out what to do with... One in particular is a product by Doheny's called PH Plus. http://www.doheny.com/poolsupplies/PH-Plus.html I have a pail of it. Is it worth keeping/using? Will this product raise TA too?

    WOW!

As a new pool owner who was pretty overwhelmed with how to deal with a pool and chemicals I have to say this method rocks! While I was testing this morning I was admiring just how amazingly clear my water was. It's unreal. I thought it was clear a couple of weeks ago when I first started the...

    Do I need to SLAM?

This is the first time I've tested a positive for CC’s in my pool. Here are the numbers: FC 7 CC.5 PH 7.4 TA 130-140 CYA 30 - still creeping this number up after my partial drain/refill last week We were gone most of Saturday all of Sunday so early Saturday morning I tested FC's at 4 and...

    Rheem P-M266A-EN-C Heater

When I started my pool a couple of weeks ago the heater was throwing an SNS error code/fault. My pool guy came out and he took the lcd panel off and jostled some of the wires and put it back together and magically it worked. Now it is throwing that SNS code again. It was raining all day today so...

    Eyeballs on returns?

My pool was built many years ago, long before I ever owned this house. It has 1 skimmer, 2 returns and one low hole. The one return might technically be called a vacuum port?? New pool owner still learning… That port is the one that has the connection for my Polaris robot. The other return has...

Pool Chemistry Balance, Borates & CYA

As a first time pool owner and starting out with the TFP method I still find it a smidgen confusing where to set my targets. My problem stems mostly from reading and watching all kinds of videos to gain a comprehensive perspective on how to manage my pool. I do understand there is some personal...

    Pump and Filter Noises. Normal??

Hello all! First post. First time pool owner. Learning lots. I’ve only had the pool open less than a week. I opened it myself. I just received my Taylor test kit and picked up my initial supplies to jump on the BBB bandwagon. My first test and chemical dump was today and it seems as though I’m...
