Pump motor throwing sparks, need help identifying correct replacement motor.

Got the motor and seal kit ordered. The amazon seller jacked the price from $157 to $191 since yesterday.... I bought the one with the correct Service Factor and not the uprated version. Saving $300 over the pool store price so that's good! It's coming on standard shipping so I will update...

Pump motor throwing sparks, need help identifying correct replacement motor.

Ok here is the picture of my hayward pump. Can anyone tell if it is a superpump I or II? My main concern is getting the correct gaskets and shaft seal. Thanks again for helping.

Pump motor throwing sparks, need help identifying correct replacement motor.

This is the pump in question, Pump. It does have the 1.5sf and the rest of the info in the description seems to line up. I am going to take some pictures of the pump housing tonight to help verify the model so I can get the correct gaskets/seals needed.

Pump motor throwing sparks, need help identifying correct replacement motor.

Joel, Thanks for that info. I found another one on amazon for $157 but in the description is says ST1103 instead of ST1102 so I'm not too keen on buying that one either. Do you or JBlizzle have a preferred online store that I should check? I really want to get the right equipment. Thanks!

Pump motor throwing sparks, need help identifying correct replacement motor.

I am quite mechanical but the wiring portion scares me a bit. Will a 2-speed require modification to the wiring at my timer/switch? I have a hot water heater timer as the timer/switch mechanism currently. Thanks for the advice and assistance.

Pump motor throwing sparks, need help identifying correct replacement motor.

I turned on my pump for the first time this spring and sparks/smoke immediately started popping out of the dry end near the wiring. I had the local pool techs come out and they said the motor is locked up. They want $500 to replace/install the motor. From a quick search on my model number...

And the water gods have spoken. Woke up this morning and the water is blue. I can see the drain and all. It still has a little ways to go before it is totally clear but the green tint is gone. I think the pool is alive and has been toying with my emotions.. I guess this weekend I will move...

CYA this afternoon is below 30 so I'm headed to lowes for that. Water looks the same as it did this morning. FC went from 16 this morning to 11 after work. Should I go ahead and buy new sand at Lowe's and just change it out?

Pics from this morning below. Doesn't appear to be a change from yesterday. Going on the 3rd full week of non-stop shocking. Should I try to lower the TA? It was at 140 the last time I tested. PH was high but I remember reading it can go high when shocking the pool. Thanks again for the...

Thanks for the response crackerjack. I added the DE this morning and got the panty hose in there. Took a picture this morning, it was a little overcast but it appears to be about the same color as my last picture. 20150819_073925.jpg - Google Drive I will do some reading today on how to...

Got home today and no change in the water appearance. Was really hoping to come home to something clearer. I will look into the sand replacement tomorrow as I know it has not been done in the 3 years since I've been here. I'm back in "my wife is going to kill me if I don't stop spending money...

The deep clean was pretty amazing. It took about 30 minutes before the water turned clear coming out of the top. Thanks for the links to the video instructions. Continuing to SLAM and hope for the best. I will take a picture tomorrow to show progress. Thanks again for all of the help.

Ok great thanks for the info. I will check youtube. I also found some schematics for the filter itself. Going to give this a shot after work. I'll update tomorrow with outcome. Thanks for the quick responses!

My FC Fell from 16 this morning to 11.5 this afternoon. I was unable to come home for lunch and add more so that is about how much I am losing on a normal sunny day. I definitely need to do the sand cleaning. I am employing the DE method also. My multi-valve is not directly on top of my...

Thanks dura. Yes it seems so close. I will add up the CYA and FC. I have enough bleach on hand to get me through a few more days of slamming so hopefully this will do the trick. Thanks,

Well.... I made it all the way to august. We took a long weekend and I came back to a bit of a greenish tint to the pool. I've been working on it for about 2 weeks now and it seems so close but I just can't seem to get past this spot. I am starting to wonder if my sand needs to be changed out...

Ok PH has been adjusted down to 7.6. Everything is looking good. Been adding cya to the sock each day letting it dissolve. It's party time! https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwqQq3RQHELOVnk3cmFVd2NaSDZ1ampRZ2V1NERMRE15b1BN/view?usp=sharing

Ok, the pool looks amazing. Now let me see if I can keep it that way... Here are the results from my testing: FC: 11.5 (I was adding bleach as it filled because I was so worried it would turn on me.. Hope this wasn't a problem.) PH: 8.0-8.5 (it was a little pinker than the top color) CYA: 0...

Water has been draining and I started the refill process. Water is crystal clear now. It hurt to drain it but as REM says, everybody hurts.. sometimes. Now onto making sure this doesn't turn back green. I added some bleach to the new water to give it some FC. I assume I need to wait till...

Another question. Since I'm only pulling from the bottom, can I turn on the normal mode on the multivalve in order to keep water circulation( edit: during refill cycles)? I figure the water will just shoot out of the jets into the pool. Shouldnt hurt I wouldn't think. But thats why I come...

That is great advice swamp. It is vinyl and I was actually close to the 1ft level in the shallow. I have started the refill. I have had very mixed results when trying to do a vaccum. Is there a particular setting that the multivalve should be on when doing the vacuum?

Looking at the new pics compared to the last ones I put up, theres not too much difference. I am home sick today and really feeling like throwing in the towel and draining the pool. I just don't see this thing clearing up in 4 days. Wife is still convinced the pool people would have done a...

Thanks for the encouragement Jeff. FC level has stayed above shock level thanks to a misread on my part. It should be at 12 (CYA 30) but it is at 19 currently. I guess thats better than being below 12. Swamp, here are the pics from this morning. I can almost see the bottom of the shallow...

Filter is running 24/7. Not sure if I can tell about the jets as the water is all kinda tinted green. I am backwashing when the pressure gauge moves up two to three notches. The DE seems to be catching more stuff as the notches jump from the 2psi over to 6psi over in about a day. Without the...

Not much progress over the weekend. FC Levels got a bit high from me accidentally putting too much bleach. I assume I just need to wait it out until the levels drop? CYA level is now at 30. I got in a big bottle of CYA testing refill so I can't test that more frequently now during this process.
