    Polaris PB4-60 Problem?

In answer to one person, I would like to use the PVC cap vs. the valve itself so that I don't need to go through all this hassle again. But, you have all made good sense! I'll discard the PVC part and check the valve discharge every few months to ensure it is working correctly. Thanks, Bill

    Polaris PB4-60 Problem?

There's good news and bad news. The good news is that I went to Lowe's and found a 1" M threaded PVC plug that can completely eliminate the pressure relief valve. The bad news is that I have no idea what problems I might create by replacing the valve with this plug. Anyone?

    Polaris PB4-60 Problem?

FLASH - I found the problem. I put my hand under the pressure relief valve and felt a HUGE amount of water being expelled. So I tried to tighten the large nut on the valve but found that it turned freely and would not lock down. But I did find a point where the water being diverted was...

    Polaris PB4-60 Problem?

I have a very large D.E. filter in a very small pool. After cleaning it out last March, the PSI on the filter was 8.0. Today it is 10.0 which means that it is not the problem. BUT - I just discovered that the reverse valve is stuck! I've ordered another and will replace it soon at which time...

    Polaris PB4-60 Problem?

My Polaris 380 with booster pump has lost power. Normally the wheels turn at 30-32 RPM which has always worked great. Now the wheels are at 24 RPM which is not enough power to move the cleaner from the deep end of the pool to the shallow end. I've done the following: - Checked the filter...

Is it OK to not use a skimmer diverter?

Actually, I'm very confident. The fellow who did the pool renovation installed an IntelliFlo AND a device which automatically holds the water at a constant level. It sounds like removing the diverter should cause me no problem at all! :)

Is it OK to not use a skimmer diverter?

My old pool was 24,000 gallons and I used a Polaris 380 vacuum which ran an hour a day. Since the Polaris kept the bottom spotless but there was always a little debris on the surface, after extensive testing I finally removed the diverter from the skimmer basket, which seemed to solve the...

    Pool Renovation in Tucson!

The full renovation was actually completed about 6 weeks ago, but it's taken me this long to get together a decent webpage of the effort. This is it: http://aa4m.com/photos/arizona/pool/ Enjoy! MrBill3

Replacement for Polaris 380 backup valve?

It's been 19 days since I've posted the above message. Since there's been no replies, I'd like to add the following: - The drive wheel on my 380 is running at exactly 28 RPM, so adding a restrictor will probably do more harm than good. - The flow from the backup valve is so powerful and long...

Replacement for Polaris 380 backup valve?

Is there an aftermarket backup valve for the Polaris 380 that doesn't back up as often and quite so vigorously? Every 5 minutes or so would be perfect in my pool, with the reversing power only 1/2 or so of what it is now!

Chapter One: It Came With The House

Re: Polaris Pool Cleaner gets stuck FWIW, the post that mentioned that my equipment was 10 years old was posted in another thread. The moderator moved the reply to this thread because the other thread had not had another reply in almost years, so he thought it was more appropriate here. A...

Chapter One: It Came With The House

The Polaris is an outstanding vacuum! What you really need is a manual . . . http://www.poolcenter.com/medias/manuals/Polaris380_Manual.pdf Once you know how to properly use this great tool, you'll be amazed at how little time you'll need to spend weekly tending to your pool.

Chapter One: It Came With The House

Re: Polaris Pool Cleaner gets stuck Mine was doing exactly the same thing. Although my hoses, swivels and floats are all 10 years old, I decided to experiment before replacing anything. The first thing I tried was to have the backwash from the backup valve blow towards the front of the...
