3 way valve (diverter) flow question

Thanks. I get it now on the Jandy's. Essentially just redundant to put the unions because everything is rebuildable.

3 way valve (diverter) flow question

Not sure I follow. Sorry. My current setup has a valve that must be replaced because there is not sufficient pipe to connect new stuff. So when I swap it out, I plan to also replumb the pad and straighten some really twisted plumbing.. Just want to add in the plan for the future heater at the...

3 way valve (diverter) flow question

2 related questions. 1) I see lots of talk about unions for equipment. What about unions on valves? Worth it? Anyone have a good pic of how this would work when using a 3 way valve? 2) when 'plumbing for the future' for adding a heater/heatpump, is there a way to install a 3-way so that...

3 way valve (diverter) flow question

Yep...that was my question. Any value in going this route over a 1.5x2? Seems like it would be helpful from a future proofing perspective, but would not have a truly significant impact (compared to some other choke points).

3 way valve (diverter) flow question

Thanks for the input. Just trying to accumulate the parts for the pad remodel and trying to move everything to 2" on the pad as much as possible. But this one wasn't really clear. Since I am trying to avoid touching the plumbing aware from the pad at this time.

3 way valve (diverter) flow question

Do the different valves have a "meaningful" flow difference when considering a 1.5"x 2" vs. a 2"x2.5". Obviously the pipe size will impact the answer but I am just asking about the valve body itself. For example...if you have this scenario... 2" input -> valve -> 2" out & 1.5" out Would...

    TA60 - multiport replacement

After some additional research, it looks like you could change the MPV ($150) and the piping assembly ($80) to convert from 1.5 to 2'. Not 100% sure what you would have to do with the laterals. But for about $250 it seems like it could work. I'm guessing it is not a common practice though.

    TA60 - multiport replacement

But it looks like the TA 60 (and TA100) both offer a 2" MVP with 2"internals. So in that case, would the difference between 1.5 and 2 make much of a difference?

Intelliflo VS pump and Jandy valve questions

interested in why are you suggesting only 30 amps? If he is going to run a new service and subpanel, wouldn't it make more sense to run a higher service for expansion? BTW...Nice clean wiring job. Why do you have 3 empty breakers? Is that something special about the load center or are you...

Intelliflo VS pump and Jandy valve questions

The same three items are $30 cheaper if bought as individual items...but this bundle is tax free and shipped free so in my case would actually save me more then $100

    TA60 - multiport replacement

Interesting. I just assumed that when a filter was advertised as 1.5 - then the MPV and all internals supported that. And 2 - then all internals supported that...etc.. Wonder why Pentair (or others) would make a 1.5 and a 2 version of many of their MPV if they aren't really a "step up". At...

    TA60 - multiport replacement

cool. Sorry i wasn't clear. In theory, because I have a TA60, I have 3 choices and I am just trying to understand them before settling on a path forward. Keep the 1.5" MPV setup I currently have (although I have to replace the MPV either way because it is broken) and it will be the bottleneck...

    TA60 - multiport replacement

Perhaps an alternate way to ask the same question.... If I wanted to convert TA 60D 1.5" (145241) into a TA 60 2" (145385), besides the new MPV, what else would I need to change? I assume the piping assembly might need to be replaced with 2" (part 152237???) but what else? Like I asked in the...

    TA60 - multiport replacement

You are spot on to the goal of my question. As I am replacing parts and preparing for the eventual rework of the whole pad, I am trying to use 2" input/output on everything. Since it appears that they make an optional multiport valve that is 2", I am wondering if that will accomplish the goal...

    TA60 - multiport replacement

Continuing on my journey to keep my pool running until I have a chance to do the full pad remodel....it seems my T60 multiport has bit the dust. Has anyone had any success upgrading the multi-port valve on a Tagelus TA-60 from the standard 1.5" to 2" inlets? The standard part (262506 -...

Anyone have both a gas heater and a heat pump?

Thanks for the advice to search the internet...I guess I will have to up my google game because I am not having a lot of luck when looking for the Ultratemp ETI information. But I accept your challenge to try. Most sites seem to have "call for pricing" or "trade pricing" or similar. I was...

Anyone have both a gas heater and a heat pump?

Thanks for sharing the info. It is informative and helpful. tbh, I was already aware of the upper bounds of each type based on research I had already done. I have been researching the topic for a while because I need to do a complete pad redo and one of the areas that continues to throw...

Anyone have both a gas heater and a heat pump?

So can you elaborate on the approximate cost of one of these? How does it compare to the equivalent capacity HP and heater? Seems like it is has a hifher efficiency rating then the other similar sized units at Pentair?

    011018 vs 011028 worth the extra $$$

Thanks for the reply. I compared the web pages for each on the Pentair site..and they were literally identical except of the part number. They don't even mention the difference in the rotatable control panel.

    011018 vs 011028 worth the extra $$$

I see that the 011028 pump is slowly starting to show as in stock on a few websites but it seems that there are still plenty of the 011018 available. The issue is that the 011028 seems to be a consistent $300 more expensive ($1199 $100-200 more expensive ($1099/999 vs 895). Is it worth it...

Replumb equipment pad pipes to 2" from 1.5" should be ok?

I know this was almost 2 years ago, but I was wondering if you have a picture of the re-piped pad? I am about to undertake a similar refresh and was planning to do a similar 1.5" > 2" upgrade for all the pad plumbing.

    IntelliTouch vs EasyTouch

Jim, Thank you for the reply. As you state, it will be critical to understand my specific needs before I make a selection. I started this thread to really get a clearer picture of how the pricing between these units compares. In most everything I have read here on TFP, it seemed that the...

    IntelliTouch vs EasyTouch

rdeputy Thanks for the positive feedback on the Pentair stuff. Did you consider both the easy touch and the intellitouch or did you know all along that the easy touch would work for you. You mention "the electricians". Did you buy the equipment yourself and have it installed or from a pool...

Which impeller is the right one

Hello all. I am rebuilding the wet side of a Hydramax II http://www.poolzoom.com/leslie-s-hydramax-ii-pump-parts.html but have run into a small snag. The currently installed impeller is a SPX3007C (3/4 HP "full rate" - 1HP Max). But the motor that is installed is a 1HP motor (AO smith...

Circupool SI vs SI+ vs SJ

Well, I have been lurking for a while and finally feel a little smarter about my pool so I am ready to ask some questions. We bought a house last year and the blue haven pool will need some significant repair/upgrade. One of the first items on my list will be a SWG system. While doing some...
