I was guessing/hoping it was pollen and not some crazy algae.

    What is this (yellow stuff)?

Opened the pool on Saturday. Water is clear and pool is balanced. Only things out of spec is CH which is 440 and chlorine is still high from being shocked. Opened both skinner baskets and found this yellow film on top of the water. Any idea what it is?

    Sediment/Crystals on pool bottom

If it bubbles when you pour muriatic acid on it, it is calcium scale. I just had the same problem when I opened my pool for the first time this spring. Everyone will have various opinions but I've tried a variety of methods and so far have found two that work. First, using very very fine...

Brushing After No Drain Acid Wash

I searched every thread and couldn't find an answer so hopefully someone can help me. I opened the pool this year and I had terrible calcium scale. I just started a no drain acid wash (I am on Day 3) and the pool looks much better. I say looks because it is freezing so I don't know how it...

Calcium Crystals!?! First Pool Opening. Please Help

So my water is balanced but I'm keeping the PH around 7.0-7.2 in order to help the scale. I also poured in a gallon of scale remover from the pool store about a week ago. So it is getting better but not great. Today I decided to buy 200 grit sandpaper and a sanding poll. Figured it was worth a...

Calcium Crystals!?! First Pool Opening. Please Help

I don't mind the hijacking :) looks very similar. Feel the walls below where the water line was this winter. You will feel the scale of it is indeed there. Also since you have a tan ledge like I do. Rub your hand on that and see how it feels (assuming it was under water all winter). Mine is...

Calcium Crystals!?! First Pool Opening. Please Help

I have the Taylor k2006. I used the test strips tonight for a quick measure but as I mentioned before I went to the Taylor kit and got a true hardness reading. So if my robot vacuum is picking the calcium up and filling the basket. Does that mean I may be able to get rid of the scaling without...

Calcium Crystals!?! First Pool Opening. Please Help

Thanks. Just walked on the tan ledge (WATER IS COLD BUT THAT IS BESIDES THE POINT). It is really rough but doesn't hurt my feet. What makes me upset is I has it very smooth before the pool company closed the pool. Where did we go wrong over the winter?!? Why did this happen and can I...

Calcium Crystals!?! First Pool Opening. Please Help

Calcium Crystals!?! First Pool Opening. Please Help

Thanks. Here is the thing, when the pool was closed, the hardness was around 400 and the pool filled with rain/snow this winter. So could there be another source of the hardness? Don't want to drain and refill just to find out there is something else wrong. Also, could the fact that it is...

Pentair MasterTemp 400 heaters shutting down with no error c

Sorry to open this old thread. But I have a Pentair master temp 400 that is doing the same thing. It will run for hours. When the pool temp reaches the desired level it shuts off. When it needs to turn back on it will call for heat but doesn't light and instead throws a service light. It tries...

POLL: Depth Question - Need Fast Advice - 16x33 - If It Were You?????

I went with 7.5 foot deep and I can say I wish we went with 8.5. We have a jump rock and I get nervous with kids being kids and diving even though we say "NO DIVING"..... 7.5 technically is deep enough to dive off a small rock/platform but we don't allow it and it makes me very very nervous......

New Gunite Pool - Carroll County MD - PICTURES

Thanks for the replies. They (the plumber) have been very cooperative and responsive to the issue. I am very appreciative. I was told to wait at the very least 30 days before emptying the pool but preferably 90 days (per plaster company). As for who would be performing each part of the...

New Gunite Pool - Carroll County MD - PICTURES

The plumber is willing to fix their mistake. Good news. Bad news is they want to drain the pool 3 feet to do the work? Not sure what 3 feet will do since the main drain is in the deep end at 7.5 feet deep.... Since it is new plaster, we cant drain the pool for a while. Anyone know why they...

Plumber just left... she seemed like she wanted to do the right thing but said "I have to look at the plumbing plans from MD Pools to make sure they didn't say to plumb it that way". I HIGHLY doubt the plumbing plans are that detailed as it probably just shows they need to plumb in the MVFuse...

Luckily the company who did my plumbing was a national company. The GM is from Texas and happen to be in MD to do field inspections. So, she called me direct and asked to come see my pool tomorrow. I am praying this is a good sign and they don't say "oh well, your contract was with MD Pools" :(
