    Variable speed vs. single speed

Does anyone know of a cross reference chart that will tell me what motors I can directly fit to my Whisperflo WF-24? Am I tied to AO motors, or is there usually a variety of brands that will fit a given pump?

    Variable speed vs. single speed

Thank you! I hadn't actually thought about the distinction between 2-speed and VS. Our rates are quite a bit lower than that. It's on a sliding scale where you pay more per unit if your electricity consumption is higher. From my bill: Energy Charge − first 500 kWh (500 kWh at $0.076) $38.00...

    Variable speed vs. single speed

Hi all, I have an aging pump that I think may be a culprit in my electricity consumption problem (>3000 kWh / month with just two people). It's an 11 year old AO Smith 177474 single speed. I see ads that claim that a variable speed pump can save a lot of electricity, but was hoping to get...

Rust spots turned black with vitamin C

Thank you for the advice, Swampwoman. I don't have a heater. I am on well water, but it rains enough to where it is very rare that I have to add water from the tap. I don't think I've added water since around March or so. Even when I do, the water goes through a whole-house reverse osmosis...

Rust spots turned black with vitamin C

Hi, I've had my pool for about a year (it's ten years old), and finally decided to deal with what I believed are rust stains on the bottom. My chems always test perfect by Leslie's Pool, but it wasn't maintained very well by previous owners. I scrubbed some of the spots off with an abrasive...

    intermittent transformer buzzing

Hi again, So, last night the light went out. I haven't pulled the bulb yet, but I did put a meter on the output of the transformer and it's giving me about 3V. It's still buzzing. I verified that the input voltage is the 110v that it's supposed to be. I know there's going to be a tolerance...

    intermittent transformer buzzing

Hi My low voltage transformer for the pool light makes a loud buzzing noise sometimes. Is this normal, or a sign that something needs to be repaired? I just bought the house recently, so don't know how long it's been doing it, and don't know doodley about pools yet. Thanks! Dan
