    Need new cover

My experience was I tried to save money and bought a safety cover for about $600 one year to replace my meyco cover, about $1200. I wound up with an impossible to manage level of algae in the pool at opening. The cheaper cover let too much light in so the algae just grew and grew, and grew...

Can I use pool bleach for

I have a spotted lantern fly problem and they are causing a mold to cover the cement patio next to my pool. I noticed my 30 second outdoor cleaner is 5% hypochlorite. Could I dilute my 12% pool bleach and use it on the painted cement patio like I have with done the cleaner? The rest of the...

I hope the seagull pro is a good one

Ordered on Sunday arrived Tuesday, that's pretty good. Charged it and threw it in. I couldn't figure out the logic of it. It ran diagonally across the pool. Vacuumed the hooper quite a bit, got stuck on the main drain once. It would come to the side of the hooper, run up the side a little...

Cloudy water and passed the chlorine test

Looking at it this morning I didn't see any trace of de lurking on the bottom. The pool water is some what cleaner, but not crystal clear. I'm going to run the filter at a higher rpm for awhile to see if I get some white powder in the seems over the next few days.

Cloudy water and passed the chlorine test

I vacuumed this morning, I must have used 10 of those basket socks. Each would clog up pretty quick with what looked like a dark grey wet de. By the time I was done there was a lot of stuff floating in the water making the bottom hard to see again. I'm goin g to filter the rest of today and...

Cloudy water and passed the chlorine test

OCLT tested at a 1.0 drop overnight. The water looks a little more clear. I will probably vacuum and continue cleaning and see how it goes.

Cloudy water and passed the chlorine test

I pulled the filer medium and washed it by hand. Looked around for any spots that might be torn or whatever may allow de to get into the pool. Then backwashed it too. I'm gonna run the filter and I will do the overnight cl drop test again.

Cloudy water and passed the chlorine test

I've been running the filter and adjusting the chemistry for about 2 weeks. I removed the loop lock cover and found a very cloudy pool. Couldn't see the bottom at the deep end. I did the overnight chlorine test and it came out just fine. 3.5 last night, 3.5 this morning. What could the...

    Good cleaning solution?

What cleanser can I use on the skimmers and other solid surfaces around the pool? Certainly don't want something that will foam up. Thanks.

What do you use to blow the lines?

I reblew (a new word I think) the returns and watched as a ton of water came forcefully out. Sure its rough to spend $400 to use it for 10 minutes a year, but way cheaper than replacing the pipes after a solid freeze.

What do you use to blow the lines?

I got my cyclone, so this week I will be re-blowing the pipes just to make sure it's good. I have to pick up more anti freeze too.

What do you use to blow the lines?

Like someone said its a lot of money to use it once a year. But considering what repairing frozen pipes would cost I'm gonna go for it. Thanks.

What do you use to blow the lines?

What will I need to connect it to the piping? I would like to screw it onto the pipes for returns and skimmers directly. I have 2 pics, the jandy valve connects to my filter in while the other is the output to the returns. I see the hose adapter is included from in the swim (1.5 inch piping)...

What do you use to blow the lines?

I used to use a shop vac exhaust and I would jam it into the stanchion for the skimmer and the returns. That was a pain because i needed 2 people, one to hold the blower and one to see when the pipe was clear (no line of sight from the filter). This year I hooked up an auto tire compressor to...

    A little algae-should I slam?

Last week there was some algae on the side in the deep part. I brushed it. Today there was some green in the corners in the shallow end. I brushed it. There was a green hue as I brushed the whole shallow section. My tests all along have been 4.0 cl, 80 alk, and I just brought the ph...

Will muriatic acid weaken in the jug?

Will muriatic acid weaken in the jug?

I ask because my ph has been bumping up to 8.0 and I added muriatic acid as per the pool math app and have not had the expected change in ph. My acid is from last summer, but it was in a sealed container. Thanks.

    What filter should I buy?

I rebuilt much of my pool last year. Now I am looking at the filter. I have had a DE Hayward FNS36 filter for the last 25 years and am getting tired of backwashing and replacing the DE. What cartridge filter would be a good replacement for me? What features should I look for? Thanks.

Pool newbie seeking pool heating advice

Good luck with the new pool. Stay with TFP, folks here have been very helpful to me over the years. I always wondered if there were actual tests done to verify the effectiveness of solar covers. May I offer my own experiences for the last 20 years as a pool owner? Years 1 to 5- No heater...
