Remove and replace cementitious material between coping stones

Yes sir, I'm gonna try a small chisel/hammer as well, just trying to avoid any damage and making more work. That angle grinder with a masonry blade might help as well.

Remove and replace cementitious material between coping stones

Pool is 12 years old. Grout mix. Sorry, that is a broad term to my old mind. Tile grout, latex grout? Guess I'm pretty overwhelmed here. Seems like bathroom/shower tile grout would be good. Thank you for your comments in advance.

Remove and replace cementitious material between coping stones

Plan is to remove existing material with dremmel and or small angle grinder, then replace with Sakrete mortar mix while avoiding doing damage to anything. Probably 10% of the stone joints need redone. Should I be using a different material? Thanks in advance for any comments.

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

Update. I scored a square area around the patch and removed the very small rust vein to about 1/4-3/8" with a dremmel tool. (This method worked great) Then patched with the aforementioned product on May 28th, and refilled the pool 24 hours later. So far no sign of rust.

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

Good point. I no longer need the FS, which as you stated was difficult to work with. Thank you so much. Hoping to drain down overnight, patch and cure, then fill it up before water gets funky. Planning on stiffening my water up before drain down to avoid algae etc.

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

Understood, thank you. Is the patching material I have for the plaster suitable? How long for the patch to cure before refilling?(other than manufacturers recommendations) Thanks again for the comments.

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

Wow. Okay. When I initially gently chipped into the rusty colored stain (underwater) I followed the rust to the left ( no rust at initial spot, it moved laterally to the left during the chipping, as a piece of tie wire would react) so I referred to this as chasing the rusty spot. It moved as I...

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

This pool/plaster is over ten years old. Excavation was into sandstone iron ore rock for the most part. We have had no issues other than the recent stain on the plaster. A replaster is obviously in future, just trying to hold off on that for the short-term.

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

ajw22, Thank you for your reply. The spot was initially on the far opposite side of where it is now, so I chased it to where it is now last fall. A few weeks ago it was significantly smaller. Having a hard time understanding how it is anything other than a tie wire sticking out to far from the...

Apparent tie wire stain on white plaster

First pic upload so not sure about my ability to follow protocol. After chipping out last fall it I chased it to a very small spot, since it has gotten uglier, assume I'll have to chip it over a little more.

Hello folks, The spot is about halfway down past water line on wall. Carefully chipped out a 1/4" depth/ neat lines. 2" x 3" roughly. I tried to patch it underwater last fall with no success. (patch would not stay/ dissolved) EZ Patch 1FS Have experience finishing concrete and using hand...

    Expansion joint seal complete

So I finished today, used a multi tool with Bosch star lock blades to remove old material, used an electric caulk gun with boss 822 joint seal. Only got serious this week trying to knock it out. Tried back in June…too hot. Anyone have any questions feel free.

    New Deck-o-seal this year...

Update on progress: Did a test section a few weeks ago and learned a few things; 1. the product appears to be fine with cure/solidification time of two weeks or so. 2. The large electric caulk gun is hard to handle but practice will help. 3. Again, the multi tool is a life saver for cleaning the...

    New Deck-o-seal this year...

So, as my DYI projects generally go, I am over budget and way behind on completion time. Just began removing old deckoseal, with DeWalt multi tool. Removal with this tool is most certainly the way to go, with the blades shown in this post. Also, my b&m pool store has discontinued use of the...

    New Deck-o-seal this year...

Unless I talk myself out of it, gonna give this a shot this year once temp.s warm up. Intent is to prep a section then seal vs. trying to do too much at one time. Have dremel and such to prep with. Original seal lasted 10 years plus. Not sure what sand to use on top. Have read forum posts on...

East Tx. Thanks Ike, my intentions are to polish my profile etc. and utilize this forum. My knowledge vs money spent building/maintaining the pool is inversely proportional at this time. I hope to improve on this.

    Pump Blues

Many thanks Ike. We have 2 small waterfalls and 1 small bubbler. Your suggestions are well received. Replacing the motor only was not considered. My next chore will be acquiring a reputable tech to do the work. The market here presents limited options. And why my PB did not suggest a 2...

    Pump Blues

Please allow I am a 1st time poster and not versed in proper rules I'm sure. My pump is 4.5 years old and had motor replaced a year ago. It seems to be working fine (2hp single sp pentair) I want a more efficient unit with programable timer for dummies. It is my understanding the var. speed is...
