FC won't stay up, but water clear ?

I'll wait for the experts to answer most of that, but no you do not pour chlorine/bleach into the skimmer. In my plaster pool I pour the chlorine/bleach in front of a return with the pump running at a high speed. I also wouldn't worry about your CC, I would figure out the appropriate FC level...

Update - Water In - Final pieces remain South Jersey Build

Re: New build in South Jersey - Pictures included That is my thinking- not only nooks and crannies, but ones that trap water because they are larger at the bottom and have acute angles, etc. Best bet, for sure.

Update - Water In - Final pieces remain South Jersey Build

Re: New build in South Jersey - Pictures included A rock salt finish should give you the freedom to select a new finish every spring too  (I think the reason they're unfamiliar to people in the norhteast is that they can't handle the freeze/thaw)

    It's Pool Repair Weekend!

It must be the area, down here in S Florida the water alone would cost $1000, and the pool plaster would be more like $5k. With that math almost nobody would paint a concrete pool.

Travertine Paver deck & coping - need to make a decision ASAP! :S

At least for the tumbled white/ivory color from Turkey that I just had installed last month it is not slippery at all, and it does not get hot in the sun! Love the product, love the look. On the other hand, thinking about spending $$$ every other year to seal it because I went with a salt...

So a month in and I'm waiting to switch to my swcg until I've finished smoothing out the coping - I've done about the first (60 grit) pass on like 2/3 of the pool in only 12 or so hours using 30mm bullnose diamond pads. Different pieces of coping, but before and after the 60 grit: I'm not...

Anyway to use waterfall with pump on low speed

From what I'm gathering looking at this and reading the comments upthread, you need to not use the Aux3 relay socket if you want spa spillover, so you need to move whatever if on Aux 3 somewhere else and change S1-3 to get spa spillover mode. Looks like you're using all the relay sockets...

So, hopefully much ado about nothing. They forgot to plug the second hole in the new skimmer. I also found out that my Pentair come Hayward LED light is in fact my old light with a "Color Splash 3G" bulb in it. Apparently when they got around to replacing the light (after the decking was...

And the saga continues. Water drained down to the bottom of the skimmer overnight. I've turned off the skimmer and kept the pump running, and so far it looks like the level has not dropped any further. This is the same behavior that caused this entire project to happen, though in that case it...

Thanks, and yes, of course you're both totally correct. It's orders of magnitude better! And the story is I won't be swimming in it for 2 weeks, and I'm sticking to that. If anyone tells you different, don't believe them! Now to figure out the settings for my pump and the valve between the...

    S Fla Canal Front Remodel

Unfortunately I didn't get to see the finished surface in the light since I got home late last night. I woke up around 3am to check the fill status and since the water was over the light, I decided to turn it on. I never should have done that. Wasn't able to get back to sleep after that...

It was a diamond router bit on an angle grinder, it was just not done nearly enough, and extremely unevenly at that. Everyone has had the same multi-part reaction: 1) They hear the complaint and react that I'm being difficult and expect too much 2) They see those pictures and get upset and...

So they bull-nosed the coping today (that couldn't have happened yesterday so they could bondcoat today?) and well there is another term that starts with bull which describes my reaction to seeing the finished product... From inside the pool It looks like that all around the pool- both the...

Lol, yeah a little too late, and it's twice the size of what was here before... Live and learn. BTW Is there something better than the Hydraulics 101 to help people make filter size selection? This filter is rated to flow 3-4x what I need, so I'm assuming the issue is just around frequency of...

Chipped out They've left the old finish where it's well adhered, but you can see how it was really bad on the walls. You can see all 3 previous surfaces and a little gunnite. Is it acceptable to leave the steps and corner tile intact and just bond coat over them? They chipped the top of the...

    Nano+ with VSP Wiring

Good to know, I am a little surprised that devices meant for protection fail in the unsafe direction such that everyone recommends turning it on/off with the pump. Exactly how I feel about it, and why I'm going to take Jason's advice. Yeah, right with you on that. It just means the breaker...

Thanks for the encouragement pooldv. And kimkats- Thanks! I had wanted something glass in the cobalt blue end of things that had some variability but was overall still dark since the surface is going to be light and the travertine is very light. I really couldn't find anything that fit the bill...

    Nano+ with VSP Wiring

Thanks Jason, Apparently it doesn't (we use NEC 2008 down here still, not sure if it has changed since) but I'll just go and replace that breaker with a Pentair or Siemens GFCI then. Has anyone found such relays/sockets rated for exposure?

    S Fla Canal Front Remodel

Hi all, Long time lurker, new TFP member. After much searching last year I purchased a house down in Southern Florida on an ocean access canal, which had a newly resurfaced/retiled 16x32 almost rectangular pool (apparently adding a pool canalside is often economically infeasible due to the need...

    Nano+ with VSP Wiring

I'm new to pool ownership and am in the middle of a full remodel of an existing 1950s-era pool. One of the things I did was opt to replace the $85/mo single speed pump with a VSP with built in timer and add a SWG. I've found this question asked here, but I've not found it answered, my apologies...
