    Replacing Jandy Watercolor LED

Looks like my Jandy Watercolor LED has dimmed and then died. This is the second one to die and is now out of warranty. I'd like to try fixing this myself. Two questions: Can I just purchase a replacement LED bulb, pop out the old fixture, open the gasket and replace a bulb avoiding any...

    Water turnover

For my part using the concepts here have slowly reduced the time to roughly 2 hours in the early evenings ( when I add chemicals ). In the fall if I get more leaves in the pool I may run for a bit longer, but 2 hours seems plenty to keep surface material to a minimum.

    Better pH Test?

I believe that you can adjust the number of drops with the Taylor test to get the intensity to match. I have found it much easier to match with 4 drops rather than 5. Also don't mix, just flip once and it should be mixed enough. You could also consider taking a picture with you phone, I find...

    Pool Math and CSI question

Thanks for information, that was my assumption as well that I could mostly keep levels and ignore CSI. FYI I have just a regular pool, no SWG. Being new I have been focusing on primarily on FC/CYA/PH. Reviewing the docs, it looks like I must have been reading the CH on the vinyl pool (CH...

    Pool Math and CSI question

Was reviewing the Pool Math calculator after seeing some comments on CSI numbers which is a term I am not very familiar with. Current numbers: FC: 6.5 CC: 0 CYA: 70 PH: 7.4 TA: 60 CH: 120 These numbers have been pretty steady over the last couple months with PH slowly rising to 7.8 and then...

How often does a cartridge filter need cleaning?

Thanks all, sounds like it is reasonable for my filter to not be to clogged after 6 months since I don't have a lot of debris. The gauge is fine, it moves around when I change the pump speed so that doesn't appear to be an issue. Either way it is probably worthwhile cleaning at least once a...

How often does a cartridge filter need cleaning?

I have a Jandy 450 SQ cartridge for my roughly 15K gallon pool here in north Texas. Last time I cleaned the filter was in October. I was told the PSI would increase over time and when it went from the 10PSI post last cleaning to roughly 20PSI I would need to clean the filter again. After...

    Spring Texas, Construction Progress

Re: Spring Texas, Selecting a pool builder, design, and equipment---help please! Colored LED lights do cost more, but are well worth considering. They appear to attract fewer bugs and the different colors available at night really do look cool and are not as blazing bright. They also cost...

    New pool, Manor, Texas

Was swimming in our new pool in the DFW area most days up until the week before Christmas. Normally after a run so it felt pretty good. Managed it down to 50 degrees. Haven't been in since Christmas though.

Bidding and making decisions about pool in DFW, TX

Are you sure they didn't mean sealer over rock / concrete decking exposed to the salt water? For example flagstone coping? rather than the gunite itself?

    Tahoe Blue Pebble

We are okay with the color. We had hoped for a bit darker, but it looks nice and as I said it changes shades a lot during the day. If our pool was deeper I think it would also help. We also really like it when we turn on the LED light with slowly changing colors on at night. The pool color...

Stonescapes Mini-Pebble Tropics Blue - how is deep end visibility?

We were debating and went back and forth ( same cost for us ) ended up going with Tropics blue since we didn't want any green. Probably would have preferred a slightly darker blue. Here is the thread with some photos of the Tropics Blue...

    Does this sound reasonable?

This past March the most expensive quote we had on a pool by Claffey, similar to yours (32x17), PebbleTech, minus the spa and only ~600 feet of decking was in the mid 50s. A spa would have added another 8K or so if I remember correctly. Ended up going with another PB

    Tahoe Blue Pebble

Well it has been a week, things have cleared up a bit and seems to be little to no green. Things overall seem to be a bit lighter in color, lighter than what we had hoped. The shades do change all day long. This is from just now in the afternoon sun. This is from this from late this afternoon.

    New pool pump questions

So water is in the pool, PB dropped a few pucks in the skimmer and hasn't been back. I have been following the TFP pool startup recommendations to get the water set up which is going ok. My question is about the pump. It has been running 24x7 as recommended for new plaster for the first week...

    Tahoe Blue Pebble

Here is our tropics blue first thing in the morning. Was hoping for more blue, less teal, but far better than what tahoe would have been. This is the morning after the first fill so it may change up over time.

    Tahoe Blue Pebble

No answer, but we have been debating tahoe blue as well. We are more concerned about the greenish tinge, so we have decided to go tropics blue and risk the lighter color, but avoid the green.

    Can stamped concrete be restamped?

No miscommunication, just a mistake by the PB. No we did not get to see the stamp until my wife who happened to be home asked about it, but they had already started pouring before that. Thanks for the input everyone, sounds like an overlay isn't as permanent and we either need to accept it as...

    Can stamped concrete be restamped?

Thanks, they did a good job, just not what we were expecting. My big concern is that they want to do an overlay and I don't know that an overlay can be done without it looking odd and not lining up with the coping etc. If it needs to be ripped out first to make it work properly I need to...

    Can stamped concrete be restamped?

Here is what we we looking for pattern wise Here is what we have, which looks like a slab: So what is the process for re stamping and is it likely to look good after? From what I understand they have pour at least another 1/4 inch on top of this at which point will it still be level with...

    Can stamped concrete be restamped?

So we finally got our deck poured today. However they used the wrong stamp. We had agreed to a repeated tile pattern, but got a faux stone pattern with no tiles. We were told it can be fixed but will take two weeks for the current deck to cure and then the surface can be re stamped. Is this...

Are you Happy w/ Your Custom Blend Pool Finish (StoneScape Mini Peeble)?

Going through the same choices. We want a deep rich blue and have been leaning towards tahoe blue. With 3.5 - 5 foot depths we hope it turns out good. The mini pebble colors just seem either too light a blue, or a little too much greenish tinge. It also depends on the surrounding area and...
