Zodiac MX6 gets stuck on steps (with video) - need some help with what parts I need

My MX6 never got stuck on the stairs in our pool. Earlier this year, mine was in need of spare parts again. With oak leaf and oak streamer season looming this year, I bought a robot cleaner. The MX6 could not deal with the huge volume of oak leaves we get, and would have to be cleaned out 2 or 3...

Suspected air leak in Jandy valve

Thanks for your inputs! I'm going to look for a rebuild kit. That Jandy valve goes back to 1994.

Suspected air leak in Jandy valve

My pool has two skimmers. The returns from these terminate in a Jandy valve, from which a single pipe enters the pump. When I rotate the valve to the center position, there's an air leak that can't be primed out. However, if I turn the valve to the left or right (20 degrees or so), the air leak...

    MX8 Elite Wearing Through Tracks

You can reduce the MX-8 RPMs by reducing the suction to the skimmer where the MX-8 is installed. It takes some trial and error to get it set correctly. It's not unusual for the tracks to get worn down or stretched out. Best to replace them with OEM tracks.

    Should Zodiac MX6 spin easily?

The propeller and inner workings should all turn freely, you are correct. You might try "field stripping" the apparatus inside the cleaner, to make sure there's no invisible debris and all the bearings are clean. If all is good inside and the mechanism is still stiff, you might want to return...

    Lesson learned this season

In past years, I typically tested chlorine levels every few days and then added liquid chlorine based on the test results. The results weren't always so great. Yellow algae would start to appear after a few days, especially in shady areas. This past season, I started adding small amounts of...

    PH Dilemma

In a distracted moment, I added too much muriatic acid to my pool. The test results afterward are: Temp 86 degrees F Cl = 6.0 pH = 6.8 CH = 475 TA = 60 CSI = -.65 This time of year, our pool pH increases very quickly. I usually have to add muriatic acid every 2 or 3 days. I understand a CSI...

How to deal with CH when fill water has high CH

The CH for my pool was 575 a few days ago. We had a big rainstorm a few days ago (6 inches), and CH dropped to 495. So, a few big storms may bail you out. Our water supply is very hard, as it comes from an aquifer. We do what santacruzpool suggested above - keep the pH down and the CSI at zero...

Zodiac MX6 gets stuck on steps (with video) - need some help with what parts I need

Earlier this year, my MX6 would get stuck trying to climb walls. I changed out the side A directional control device, and it's worked fine ever since. You might check out the tracks, the treads might be getting worn smooth. Another possibility is to check the suction through the cleaner; the...

    Baracuda MX8 Issues

You may need to change out the directional control devices on your MX-8. I changed out the corresponding part on my MX-6, and it runs like new (it only has one such component). The parts will probably run around $40 - expensive, but cheaper than a new pool cleaner.

Best time for discounts on robotic cleaners

I'm hoping to acquire a robotic cleaner during the next 10 months, but am not in a hurry. I'm inclined toward the Maytronics robots. Here's my question. Is there a time of year when the prices on these cleaners are discounted? End of season/off-season? Black Friday? Beginning of the season...

Ready to make the switch to robots....which one is best for climbing walls

Have any of you robot owners had trouble with the cleaner causing damage to your pool steps? I saw a complaint about this in an Amazon.com review. Also, any ideas on when prices on robotic cleaners are at their lowest? Seems like we should be seeing lower prices this time of year. Thanks!

Zodiac MX6 Suction pool cleaner issues

In addition to tethering the MX-6 at the far end and using a shorter hose, you might try reducing the suction just a bit to the port that powers the cleaner. With too much suction, our MX-6 also tries to "escape" by traveling up to the water line; then it sucks air as you described and sinks...

More mustard algae - need help with diagnosis

Hi Kim, Wow, that was quick! To answer your questions: I used my trusty TF-100 test kit and speed stirrer for the tests. The algae does not puff up when brushed; in fact, it's on the plaster very solidly. Thanks!

More mustard algae - need help with diagnosis

Hello, This is my first post, and I'm hoping you folks can help me identify the algae infestation in our pool. First, here are my test results from today: FC = 4.5 CC = 0.5 TC = 5.0 CH = 475 TA = 110 pH = 7.8 CYA = 50 I'm pretty sure the problem here is algae; I determined this using a 3"...
