    AquaLink Z4 Controller

Hello forum, Have had a Aqualink Z4 controller for about six years. No issues until the other day when I noticed the pool pump was not running. Went to the controller and saw the controller only showing the text "TRi-Pure" and the time (see pic). Tried a few things, nothing. Called Zodiac, was...

    Zodiac iAqualink Z4 Problem

Not sure if anyone else has, or has had this problem with the Zodiac Z4. If I set my pool pump program from say 8am - 6pm, but at 5:30pm I manually turn on the spa mode, at 6pm the spa and heater shuts off, the valves move to the pool setting and then nothing happens. I then have to manually...

New Conversion. Salt at 4100. Empty and Re-Fill?

I used the test strips that came with the Hayward. The pump ran all night and the SWG did not get turned on until last this morning. I would say it was a good 13 hours. The test strip barely showed a reading above 1 before I added the salt. I was about to add more salt because the test strip...

New Conversion. Salt at 4100. Empty and Re-Fill?

Just converted to SW. Added 9x40lb bags last night. Plumbed in today. Reading at 4100. Should I empty and re-fill with fresh water, or let it go for a couple of days?

    Preparing The Water

Going to be installing my SWG this weekend. Aqua Rite install manual says to add, if not new water, 1 quart of metal remover and 1 quart of non-copper based algaecide. Should I? Thanks.

    Installing new Chlorine generating cell

From what I understood when I called Pentair (before I went with Hayward) is that you can wire the power directly to your sub panel/power supply, and just use the units flow valve as the on/off, so to speak. When your pump shuts off, the unit will stop producing as there is no flow. Again, that...

Grounding or sacrificial anode or both

Hmm. Thank you. I have no metal in the pool apart from the pool light. Both hand rails are out of the water and no ladder. Heat exchanger is titanium. Not sure what, if any, besides maybe springs in the check valves have metal in them.

Aqua Rite and Variable Speed Pump Issue?

I am putting in the same SWG. I am going to add the SWG after my pool heater but before the pool/spa return split. The flow valve, however, will be placed on the pool side return only with at least 12" on straight pipe before the flow valve. The panel will be wired directly to the sub panel on a...

Grounding or sacrificial anode or both

OK. So can I do this. I will bury the zinc anode in the ground and run the copper wire up through the skimmer overflow and just dangle the copper ground wire in the skimmer water. Will that work?

Grounding or sacrificial anode or both

Is seems the general consensus is to install some kind of sacrificial anode (zinc) when using a SWG. I have already ordered a zinc plate that fits in the skimmer basket. It was $25 and is probably a good investment. My question is, I have a small overflow drain in my skimmer that I could use to...

AutoPilot Digital Nano or Pentair Intellichlor IC40......Let the battle begin!

Have weeded down my choice for a SWG to these two (unless someone else has a really good recommendation). I know all SWG's have their pros and cons, but what say you TFP experts? Also, I have spent the weekend reading some horror stories about SWG. Some have said, especially those in SW...

Install SWG in return line or to the infloor system (caretaker 99).

Hmm. Instructions say to install before the split to pool and spa, but I understand what you are saying. I have a Rainbow Inline chlorine feeder on my pool side return that I wanted to keep in case the SWG needed a boost (live in SW FL). However, I do not have enough room to have both after the...

    Old Equipment to New Equipment

I poured the pad for the heater a couple of months ago. Not sure how or if they heated the spa before with such a small original pad.

    Plumbing questions

Why is he using flex pipe at all? Sounds like this is an expensive job with much $ being spent on your part. Why did he not bend the PVC on site? Also, from what I remember from school, water is going to take the easiest path. So your skimmer inlet furthest from the pump is going to need more...

5lb Check Valve....Or Just Use Ball Valve

The issue is that I have no clue what GPM I will be at in my spa. There are only four returns in the spa, but my fear was that my wife would be asking for the VSP RPM to be increased, and I would go past the GPM limit of 70. If the consensus is that I will get nowhere close to 70GPM before the...

5lb Check Valve....Or Just Use Ball Valve

It is an Aquatherm, basically same as Aquacal. If you read Aquacal literature, it says to install one if it exceeds 70GPM.
